i've mostly just been trying to keep myself alive in this world but back in July, I published this theoretical meditation on Blackness, transness, and K-12 pedagogies in the inaugural issue of @jqtsie and it is such a beautiful piece of work.

Today in seminar, my high schoolers and I talked about Marcellus Williams’ life and death. We read his poetry and wrote notes of gratitude to the people, places, and things that still make us happy to be alive in this very heavy and hard world. I am so grateful for the kids.

we had to say goodbye to our pup, Mabel the Pig, unexpectedly yesterday. i’m living across the country for fieldwork so I watched her take her last breath via FaceTime. i’m sad and so incredibly mentally/emotionally drained these days. anyways, Mabel was the best dog. 💔

Tuesday evening update: For the past two days, I've just been trying to breathe and sitting in so much gratitude for this community. I reached my goal thanks to you all. Today, I paid my rent/bills. I bathed and fed myself. I chose to keep going and I am so so grateful.
