A friend was telling me last night about a guy who’s an engineer & taught high level math at the Air Force Academy but couldn’t teach in public school because he wasn’t a certified teacher. Take a minute to consider the stupidity of that.

Teachers do not get "paid summers off." We are 10-month employees who are technically jobless in the summer. In NYC our 10 month salary is divided into 12. In other states teachers have to opt into that. And in others, there's just no paycheck in the summer.
