@Simply_Psyke @DiscordianKitty Post-9/11, at that. The way the backstory reads as this feel-good "the idea came out of nowhere from a kid" and doesn't give any background to the author's sister who conveniently had "marketing experience"... Makes me wonder *who* that sister worked for previously.

@luckytran I love how "you do you" people are far less concerned with the many well-documented instances of harassment/assault by anti-maskers, than they are with people on Twitter telling them that their unwillingness to mask forces disabled people to risk our lives just to see a doctor.

@jamreed02 @ChaosIsMel actually, fun fact, Christianity is a huge outlier in terms of "you're Christian if you just say you are" in most cases you *can't* "just change your religion", because conversion is a process. the one you *can* do that with...is converting to Christianity.

Why does it feel like a hot take to say that the sort of lockdown that causes excessive stress and mental health issues isn't the aggressive sort that NZ, Australia, and multiple Asian countries have done but rather the uncertain never ending semi-lockdown that North America has?

@AlexandraErin And "the flu isn't *that* serious, we don't need to enact measures to prevent the spread of airborne disease like we did for cholera" was a policy decision made after the 1918 pandemic in the name of, as the Harding campaign put it, "A Return To Normalcy". Funny how that works.

@vivafalastin Omicron has been showing to spread *a lot* faster and also reduce vaccine effectiveness and meanwhile so much messaging in so many places has been "it's safe to go back out, go! wasn't lockdown so sad, don't you want to Go Buy Things now?"

@prisonculture It's so weird. They position themselves as the "rational, intellectual" types even though they throw the absolute most ridiculous tantrums over...*other people* wearing masks or not going out. And anyone who sees this behaviour as irrational is somehow the irrational one.

@vertigo_san @owillis that is literally the opposite of what engages our ADHD brain. that sort of thing just makes us switch off and go back to something familiar, where FB and Twitter serving us things is like "hey, interesting thing"

@BeingCharisBlog Don't forget the part where ableds react to our public health plan as if we want to institute some dystopian hell where nobody is allowed outside ever and people's doors are welded shut or some damn thing to keep them inside.

@JUNlPER and the *valid* criticisms of them didn't matter, everything was about associating anyone defending either of them with some paper-thin accusations and some random white dudebros saying awful shit

@m_s_ska_tov @della_morte_ I mean that position was never based in anything other than social performance anyway. It's not something you come to logically, it's something you *yell* at the dinner table to shut down anything that might make you look bad.

Here's the thing: if you bother to talk to people about the economy (and trust me, I've had this conversation with a lot of people at this point), you'll find that MANY, MANY people who believe the economy is dismal are not doing especially badly themselves, or even doing well.

@ThirstsShe the fact that it's spilled over into trying to nuke disabled people's support networks pretty much confirms this
