Ultimate local radio, just now. Guy calls in a panic, stuck for two hours in a snow drift. Tried digging himself out but getting nowhere.
I mention his location on air. Within 10 minutes a tractor arrives to tow him out and he's heading home.
Our listeners are the best.
I’ve been to see the ‘Men of the Dams’ - a truly amazing sculpture
@IntBCC
. It’s a beautiful tribute to the 53 who gave their lives in the Dambuster Raids, 80 years ago tonight. It’s there until August and well worth a visit.
I’m getting word from Lapland that Santa likes to do a test run in early December. He has to check he can still get around everyone, what with all the new housing built each year etc. It seems the Reindeer went a little too fast this morning and caused a

I will work my hardest to look after your many listeners and am lucky to be following in your footsteps. After 7 successful years, enjoy the very well deserved lie ins.
Please don’t visit Lincolnshire this weekend. Everything our beautiful county has to offer will still be here once we’re through this nightmare. That goes for Lincolnshire residents too. Just stay home, stay safe, stop the spread and help our NHS.
Ten years ago today I died (temporarily, thankfully). Our amazing NHS brought me back and, after a few months, got me back on my feet has kept me going ever since thanks to a couple of pills a day! A decade on, I’m happily married with my dream job. Life couldn’t be better.
I can’t believe I just happened to be standing in just the right spot earlier to catch the Red Arrows and their Saudi counterparts flying over Lincoln.
What were the chances of that happening? 😉
Had a 75 year old call my show to tell me how heavy she was when born (I was talking about heavy babies at the time).
Anyway, she told me she loves Lincs FM and that we’d kept her company this Christmas after the death of her husband.
That’s the power of local radio. Right there.
In the right place at exactly the right time. I was driving past Scampton when I saw the Red Arrows approaching. Pulled up, hopped out of car, saw them break and then home minutes later! One of the joys of being in Lincolnshire.
I’m a very very proud Director of Programming today. Despite an uncertain six months, we’ve had some of the best listening figures in a long time. More listeners switching us on and listening for longer too. Clearly they like truly local radio. My team are truly amazing.
Only Peter Kay could get away with putting Manchester City on to Old Trafford. Man Utd fans must have spat their prawn sandwiches out, of watching the Car Share finale.
I took this photo earlier in the week but now is the right time to share it. After 27 years, the sun is finally setting on the Lincs FM Group.
Tomorrow...a new dawn.
Happy 100th Birthday RAF. As a gift, we’re closing the country’s most historic airbase. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that the Government has confirmed the closure of RAF Scampton on the last day of Parliament, meaning no time for debate.
In 6 weeks time, it’ll be 28 yrs since I first walked through the doors of Lincs FM to help compile the football results. I then went on to read the bulletins and, for the last 20 years, presented the show itself.
Today, I’m doing it, for the last time EVER! Gulp.
As of midnight I will officially no longer work for Lincs FM, ending 28 years of very happy memories. I wish the Group well. It’s new owners (when they’re finally allowed to arrive) will inherit an amazing, wonderfully talented, team.Truly local radio is a thing to be cherished.
BBC News at 10: ‘Prince Philip still not hurt, thirty hours after crash.’
Thankfully not followed by...’and now on BBC1, the minor injury crashes where you are.’
I haven’t had proper fish and chips for at least 6 weeks, so tonight I’m queuing (at a social distance) to buy the biggest portion they’ll sell me, with mushy peas, salt n vinegar and SCRAPS (not scrumps!)
We’ve just been instructed to pull all the ‘Get Ready for Brexit’ commercials, so it appears Mr Johnson’s ‘do or die’ Oct 31st deadline is itself officially dead.
Does anyone want 500 Tins of stockpiled Potato and Leek soup?
Fantastic first day of holiday today. Was lucky to get a private tour of Facebook HQ. Found this odd switch left on though, so I switched it off for you as I left. You can thank me later Mr Zuckerberg.
To whoever it was from the national media who decided to grab one of my team by the collar, pushing her out of the way, because they were ‘in your shot’ of the PM...you’re very lucky I wasn’t there because your precious camera would now need careful removal from your arse!
My other half only got in to

9 years ago today I temporarily died, which was quite the inconvenience at the time (a waste of a Saturday & the following 3 months!) Thanks to
@liveshq
I’m still here to tweet about it. 9 years on, I’m married and have my dream job....plus a sore mouth after dental work earlier!
Sad that today is the last day of Lincs FM. I have many great memories of my time there, helping build a hugely successful radio brand that punched well above its weight - thanks to the amazing people that worked there over the years.
Afternoon spent at Glanford Park clearing equipment from the Hospital Radio commentary box ahead of what could be the last ever game for Scunthorpe United there on Saturday.
I remember when the stadium first opened. Sad to see it empty and facing an uncertain future.
A last word on those presenters who’ve said goodbye this weekend. Not only were they professional on their final shows but have been utterly so through the last few months, especially during Covid-19. They knew all this was coming but never stopped putting their listeners first.
28 years ago (give or take a few weeks) a young
@rodwhiting
opened the front door of Lincs FM to a young Sean Dunderdale. It seemed only right he did the same on my arrival
@BBCRadioLincs
today.
(I looked equally gormless on my first day 28 yrs ago too, but with hair!)
Many Caroline Flack fans (especially younger ones) will be devastated by tonights news. You might feel you too are struggling and can’t find a way out of your problems. You can. Please reach out, talk to a friend or, if that’s too hard, call the Samaritans, in confidence: 116 123
It’s very exciting (for me. I know it means nothing to you) to see my name in the
@RadioTimes
Because of BBC Local Radio schedule changes at the start of lockdown, the listings changed & individual presenter names weren’t included. Now they are and, for the first time, I’m there
There will be a lot of people now who are seriously struggling with tonight’s announcement, fearing Christmas alone. If that’s you, reach out. There are lots of organisations (easy to find online) who are offering free, confidential, support.
It’s okay to not feel okay.
Among the many reasons I do my job, the text below - received this morning - is perhaps the most important.
I called her after the show to check she was okay and we had a lovely chat.
If you’re struggling, the Samaritans are there, in confidence. Call 116 123
Happy Lincolnshire Day, from the county that feeds and fuels the nation. Home to the world’s first tank, the Dambusters, the Red Arrows, Sir Isaac Newton, Lincoln Cathedral, the UK’s first woman police officer, the UK’s first woman PM, the world egg throwing championships & more!
Huge congratulations to BBC Studios. Fresh from last weeks Coronation Weekend to this weeks Eurovision Song Contest. Such a slick, clever, show. Everything worked well, including seemless opt-outs for those countries taking breaks during the show. Well done all in Liverpool too.
Top tip today: If you work at a RADIO station and are setting up an interview with someone who works at a POLICE station, don’t simply arrange to meet ‘at the station’ to record it!
@MarcJonesLincs
and I were both early in to our separate workplaces today!
Thank you for the many kind messages re today’s news. I have a truly talented team and it’s been a pleasure leading them. As for the future, our new owners have an equal passion for our amazing radio industry. It’s exciting times for the team, our many listeners and clients.
Good morning. You’re waking up to the news the Red Arrows are STAYING in Lincolnshire. As a Red Arrows fan, I’m celebrating right now
@BBCRadioLincs
It’s worth listening, if only to hear if I end up crying (with happiness) by the end of the show. 😁
Listener 1 calls to say she's passed a dog running along a busy road.
Listener 2 calls to say she's been out, picked the dog up and took him home.
Listener 3 calls to say dog is hers.
Dog now reunited with owner.
The true power of local radio.
It’s 6 months today since I joined BBC Radio Lincolnshire. They’re an amazing, warm, friendly, welcoming team. Really passionate about Lincolnshire, a passion that shines through on air. Proper local radio along with the added bonus of all the music you love, across the decades.
If you happen to see an Apache parked in a field in Lincolnshire, don’t worry! Due to a technical issue, the crew made a precautionary landing in a field. Our engineers are looking at it now. They may have to weather out the coming storm though before it comes home! 💨 ☔️
I believe it is customary for breakfast presenters to post a screenshot of their alarm clock....so here’s mine. 👇 Theres also a digital radio alarm and a smart speaker set to go off at 5 minute intervals after this one!
Speak to you in the morning.
Driving home from work and in the distance I could see the

@rafredarrows
returning home from the D Day commemorations in Normandy. I love Lincolnshire.
It’s our 7th Wedding Anniversary. I’m pleased he said I Do seven years ago today. Had he not, I couldn’t have got a refund on the cake, hotel or food (I checked beforehand)! 😛
It might be a Sunday but radio doesn’t take the day off and today’s again proved how vital local radio really is.
Ps, that’s local radio....something you don’t find provided by Amazon Prime or Netflix!
So, that was my 40s. The decade I technically died (briefly) and ended up spending a few weeks in hospital. It was also the decade I got wed and joined the BBC to present my own breakfast show. I wonder what the 50s has in store for me? Roll on tomorrow.
It’s the most dangerous day to drive EVER, as on the roads there are:
🥳 Excited workers with their first pay day cash since Christmas.
🥳Overly excited Brexiteers
😡 Angry Remainers
😡Meat eaters who thought Veganuary was a good idea and
😡Gin drinkers finishing Dry January!
Can we commission The Apprentice interview episode but, instead of the candidates, we put the political party leaders up against the might of
@claudelittner
and co? I’d love to see their CVs and manifestos being torn to shreds!

I’m delighted I can now tell you about my new show. It’ll be Weekends 10am-2pm on BBC Radio Lincolnshire AND on BBC Radio Humberside. I’m from Scunthorpe & having worked on radio stations across Lincolnshire, in Grimsby & East Yorkshire I’m no stranger to either area.
Our shop/supermarket workers deserve huge credit for how they’re working at the moment, restocking stocked, facing abuse from some shoppers. If your loved one is among them, tell me their name and a message and I’ll give them a special mention on my
@BBCRadioLincs
show tomorrow.
Just driven from Lincoln to Skegness and it seems a few drivers are planning on spending the long weekend on a hospital trolly.
Slow down and don’t overtake on risky bends. It really isn’t worth it.
Sad to see the Lincs FM name disappear. I was proud to be a part of the station in its heyday, helping build it to be one of the most successful stations in the country at the time. Viking FM is also a station I remember from its very early days.
Free Radio, Gem Radio, Hallam FM, Lincs FM, Metro Radio, Pulse 1, Radio City, Rock FM, Signal 1, TFM, Viking FM and Wave Swansea are rebranding to Hits Radio...
Today, we held a hastily arranged send off for Lord Lincs, the man who made Lincs FM possible, 27 years ago this week. I was asked to give his goodbye speech, a difficult speech to deliver. I’ve spent over half my life working for him. As I said, radio will be poorer without him.
Lincolnshire this weekend has the world’s largest Steampunk event in Lincoln, the huge Lost Village Festival, the big religious One Event, the fastest man on grass, track racing championships and that’s only part of it.
Lincolnshire’s boring? I don’t think so!
Normally, for our anniversary, we’d go away somewhere nice. Last year, it was Afternoon Tea at the top of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. Today it’s a lockdown anniversary, so I’ve tried my best to recreate it.
Apparently
@BorisJohnson
was thrilled that Lincs FM was interviewing him during his visit to Boston today. Fondly remembered the couple of hours he spent at the station last year, he said. (It was only meant to be 20 minutes but he simply wouldn’t leave!)
Happy
