@Keir_Starmer take note: The π¬π§ has a huge opportunity to be a world leader in AI, but our startups & academic institutions need investment to stay competitive
For those who missed the news over the last few days, the Canadian government ... 1. has invested 240 million into Cohere to build a data center for them here in Canada 2. outlined 1 billion in funding aimed at public computing infrastructure, which researchers will have access to 3. will open 200 million up for short term funding to fill the gap while this public infrastructure is built out 4. will aim 300 million towards compute for small and medium sized businesses 5. and several other commitments less relevant to AI researchers All of this traces back to the announcement last year of over 2 billion in AI compute investments.
