Due to drivers ignoring traffic management in place on Northlands Road we have decided to close the junction with The Avenue in full to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and our operatives.
Due to closure of the M27 westbound and significant impact on the
#Southampton
road network the Council have raised the toll barriers on the Itchen Bridge (A3025)
New Copenhagen style segregated cycle lanes are planned for the Inner Avenue. Work starts from Monday 11 February at the junctions of London Road, Rockstone Place and Archers Road. The full scheme is expected to take up to 20 weeks.

Bassett Green Road and Swaythling Arch junctions with Stoneham Way are both now open following the successful commissioning of the new traffic signals.
In support of the Green Transport Recovery Plan, we will install a cycle lane on Dale Road tonight. This will replace some on-street parking, helping to keep key workers and others moving on this key hospital route. For more details on the plan, visit:

The final phase of Bassett Avenue was successfully completed last night with the application of an anti-skid surface treatment. There are no further planned closures so Bassett Avenue will be open tonight.
We will be removing the temporary cycle lanes on Bassett Avenue, between Chilworth Roundabout and Winchester Road, overnight on 2nd and 3rd September. This section will be closed between 8pm and 6am each night. See our website for more information:

Millbrook Road West service road right turn into Regent Park Road is being temporarily banned to improve traffic flow on Regents Park Road, during this phase of the Millbrook Roundabout works.
Today we have donated approx. 65 gifts for teenagers to the Christmas present appeal. These were collected by SCC who will distribute to children & families being supported by its children’s services teams
Millbrook Roundabout will reopen overnight on Sunday 16 December, slightly earlier than planned. There will be a break over Christmas, with Phase 3 beginning 7 January.
Woodmill Lane / Bridge has just reopened to traffic but will close again on the evening of Mon 31 May to allow repair works to take place to the damaged building. This closure will last approx 1 week.

We have had the snowploughs out on the major routes over night and they are all free moving but given forecasts would advise to only drive if essential
With the threat of black ice overnight our focus will remain on gritting the priority routes rather than the more residential areas as precedence has to be given to trying to keep the major access corridors open

The Household Waste & Recycling Centre in Millbrook is now open. We have about 70 vehicles queuing to get in to the site and wait time for those arriving at the back of the queue will be between 1 and 2 hours. Please consider delaying your visit unless essential

Bassett Avenue resurfacing is complete, and the road will remain open tonight. There are some minor works this evening which are being done within a single lane closure. We plan to return early May to apply some anti-skid surfacing. More details online.
Platform Road near to jct with Orchard Pl, please be aware there some swans wondering in the road. Police are on scene. However the swans are being quite stubborn Please approach with caution.

The next phase of our City Centre Transformation begins from the 8th Jan to create the Albion Place Bus Hub & Urban Park.
The Albion Place and Castle Way carparks will be permanently closed from today.

Bursledon Road project: Botley Road junction is due to be completed this afternoon, when the traffic lights will be turned on. This marks the end of the project, except from some outstanding lining to be completed in the New Year.
Congestion eased in most areas, though Winchester Road area still very busy. Great news is M27 eastbound has been reopened and westbound should reopen soon, phew! Hope busy roads have not spoilt your enjoyment of the hottest day of the year 😎

Mansbridge Rd is closed in both directions at White Swan due to previous westbound only closure being ignored by multiple motorists causing a safety issue. The flooding situation will be monitored regularly and the road will be reopened when it's safe to do so
Southampton Marathon is taking place on Sunday 2nd April, with Southampton Sporterium also taking place in the City Centre on Saturday 1st April.
