@KillerKlownFOS @arpitrage In the UK there's a grant to help pay for the switch to a heat pump and the move to low carbon heating. There's FUD spread around heat pumps typically by the oil industry. Systems are designed to output sufficient heat at the typical coldest temperature for their location.

@draccoops @sarah_go_green @mgboyes A well-installed heat pump can be cheaper: The heat pump grant is there to reduce the cost of the switch and help us all move to low carbon heating.
When we looked at the total cost of ownership of heat pumps in the UK I was surprised by this finding: Heat pumps with only slightly above average efficiency already today reach cost parity with gas boilers after the government grant. More here👇

@KillerKlownFOS @arpitrage Despite that, in the UK heat pumps commonly match gas costs due to their efficiency:

@WaltDrew11 @arpitrage In the UK, well-installed air to water heat pump (around 330% efficient) matches gas costs (even though the per kWh price of electricity is around 4x that of gas):

@Zarch1972 @Openenergymon I have only 5 months of data. I wondered whether it was different if you compared SCOP data over a year for SensoComfort, the My Vaillant app, Vaillant Controller and OpenEnergyMon, rather than just the 1 month you have in this post?
