Here is a big co secret (esp engineers whose main job is to code) — People will look at lines of code written to decide if you’re in or out. You can cry all about how it’s gameable, it’s not efficient etc. But that’s a metric all big cos use to assess poor performers.
It's my last day at

. I've learned a lot over past 3.5 years and will be forever grateful to the people I got a chance to work with.
If you're hiring - a lot of people I'd highly recommend have been impacted across a broad swath of roles. Happy to make introductions.
Over the past year we've overhauled the

Last Wednesday evening Kris Nova had a climbing accident and died.
All of us that loved her are heart broken and stunned. She was an amazing person that lived out loud and built connection and community wherever she went. She will be horribly missed.
free business idea: save small startups $50k by charging them $10k to not do SOC 2 and instead help write a security page that actually explains how the system works

It repacks workloads, gives us the latest kernel and OS packages with guarantees around their use without rebooting, and reduces state drift to approximately zero.
circa 2017/2018 startups stopped getting blocked by the requirement of a functioning and differentiated product for raises beyond series A for access to further capital.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: Elizabeth Holmes poses no further risk to wealthy investors who are more interested in virtue signaling by investing in a woman-owned startup than doing basic due diligence. 11 years in prison isn’t going to help anyone. Nonviolent entrepreneurs who mislead
if you have an air purifier, furnace, air conditioner, heat pump, or literally any other device that handles air and you haven’t cleaned the filters recently please do that today
to be clear, I think most companies with relatively steady, data intensive workloads should consider operating their own gear, but the characterization of two cabs of raw compute as being comparable in price or function to a public cloud is laughable
Smaller companies are done a disservice by the constant pushing of SOC2 reporting; they can't reasonably most of the organizational controls anyways. Good documentation of the system, organization and its security features are what people want.
still wondering if the $7M includes or excludes the cost of flying to south korea to convince a firmware engineer there is bug on a controller after 50 hours of debugging

Open questions:
1. Why aren’t LLM’s massively bearish for software valuations as marginal cost of building software approaches zero?
2. Shouldn’t scaled incumbents trade at a premium due to distribution advantage, data gravity + ecosystem providing more inputs?

Now he's asking about the infamous real estate purchases.
He says that his parent's property was "intended to be the company's property" and they just happened to stay there while they worked with the company.
