🧵One of the best bits of my job is we're never short of testimonies to print in
@Christianitymag
. Here are some recent favourites of how God is changing people's lives....
Calvin Robinson doesn't think he's controversial. And he doesn't like most of the labels he's given. "I’m a Christian, I’m English, I’m British. They’re the only identities I care about." Full interview here >>
@calvinrobinson
This makes me properly angry. I’ve never prayed outside an abortion clinic and don’t especially feel the need to. But I think it is outrageous there are now locations in the UK where Christians can be arrested for praying.
Delighted to announce the arrival of Ezra Jerome Hailes! I am so proud of
@StaceyHailes
who was incredibly brave and courageous through a very difficult birth. Ezra means “God helps” and he shares his middle name Jerome with my late uncle. Welcome to the world Ezra. We love you!
Church leaders in 2020
Jan: Online church is a bad idea 👿
Mar: Online church is great, we should have done it before! 👏
Aug: *Sigh* Online church is not the same as meeting in person ☹️
Oct: THE GOV MUST LET US OPEN OUR BUILDINGS! 😡
Dec: 🤔Let's voluntarily close our buildings
After 10 amazing yrs in London, we’ve moved out! London is the best city in the world. We had fun, started a church and made lifelong friends. But now with a growing family, it’s time for a new adventure by the sea! PS yes we did move house with a 5 day old baby. Not recommended!
Evelyn and I had never been to a
#Christingle
service before (I know!). But we’ve had a chat, and are now agreed EVERY church service should be 30 mins, include free sweets and FIRE. Genius.
Quite something for a Hindu (Rishi Sunak) to agree to read the Bible in a church. As much as I respect people of other faiths, I couldn’t personally agree to reading the Bhagavad Gita in a Hindu temple, for example.

Counter argument: the reasons why people like/don’t like Meghan are numerous. People are complicated. A one dimensional analysis (it’s all about age / it’s all about racism) helps no one
Some "personal news" (as the kids say). Excited to say I've started a new job as Editorial Director at Premier. I'll be continuing to edit
@Christianitymag
and am looking forward to working with our other fantastic magazine titles
@WomanAliveUK
@YCWmag
Increasingly clear Boris Johnson will not go tonight. Or even tomorrow. Looks like the new 1922 committee will change the rules and there will be another confidence vote next week. Which Mr Johnson will lose. Lose badly. Then it will be over. Cue summer leadership contest.
We're running a
@Christianitymag
readers survey soon. I asked our designer
@MalkyCurrie
to include a question about the design. Here's what he came up with...
I am so sorry, and so shocked to hear
@drbexl
has passed away. Praying her family and friends would know God's peace at this difficult time. I also hope the knowledge that she is in a place of no more pain and no more cancer, brings some comfort right now.

@BCWLindsay
I guess it depends what news you follow. I don’t pay much attention to any music festival headlines, but this happened to pop up on my feed just after your tweet
Whatever you think of this decision from
@sthelenschurch
I predict we will see a lot more of this. “We do not stand alone” says Rev William Taylor. I believe him.
Here's a radical idea. Let's figure out a way of disagreeing with one another which doesn't involve shouting, "you're going to hell" at fellow Christians over the internet. I know. Reaaally radical.
@michaelcoren
I have fulfilled my solemn Easter Sunday duty by RTing everything on my timeline that celebrates the great meaning of this day. If you follow me and don’t want to hear about Jesus then I’m afraid he’s unavoidable today.

Happy Easter all!
Our church has just provided free hot food to anyone who needs it for the last 4 Monday nights. Couldn’t be more proud of the team who worked so hard - cooking, serving, welcoming, befriending, loving. Thanks to
@WarmWelcome_UK
for the idea! This is just the beginning….
“I’d been in the presence of God. I was certain of it.”
This was such a powerful part of Matthew Perry’s memoir about faith and addiction. I’m going to miss him.

Anyone interested in a ride in a helicopter for 4? I'm still looking for 2 adults to join us. We leave early Saturday from Soton will fly to London for breakfast, then lunch on a yacht. If interested DM me. (Preferably someone with a helicopter and yacht, otherwise we can't go)
If lions were discovered weaving antelope-catching nets ten lion-lengths wide, it would be headline news. Yet spiders weave intricate insect-catching nets hugely bigger than themselves, and we treat it as commonplace. What’s the difference?
@philvischer
I absolutely despair for the future of US evangelicalism when I read stuff like this. You and
@KSPrior
are great - and would be welcome at literally any Christian event in the UK. It astounds me how easily and quickly American Christians want to divide and throw stones. So sad!
I'm pleased that 99.99% of reader feedback is in agreement with our author - the actions of this Christian couple were completely wrong. This is not 'standing for biblical truth'. It's homophobia.
Fantastic to see the whole of Christian Twitter UNITED in praise for
@JustinWelby
's sermon today. Thank you Archbishop Justin for your boldness and clarity

@Christianitymag
Today is Thanksgiving in the USA. Sadly, rather than importing this festival about thankfulness, we've chosen to only import Black Friday - where everyone goes consumerism crazy.
Classic
@BBCNews
going WAY over the top in reporting on itself - just to prove their impartiality. The average reader doesn’t want or need this much Lineker coverage. There are more important things happening in the world today.
When Oli London was trans it was the KINDNESS of Christians that led him towards faith, not their judgement. Funny that! Thanks for sharing your story with us
@OliLondonTV
Happy 10 YEAR anniversary to the love of my life
@StaceyHailes
! It’s been the most amazing decade of adventures together. You’re my best friend, my favourite editor and the most beautiful person inside and out. I love you so much xxxx
[THREAD] It's my final day in the
@Christianitymag
"office" (aka a tiny desk in my bedroom). Before I turn my computer off for the year, I wanted to share my favourite articles published in 2021. To all our writers, readers + subscribers: THANK YOU. We couldn't do it without you.
Every Christian charity I know of campaigned against the Gov's proposal to cut foreign aid. Almost every Christian MP I can think of voted against it.
@RishiSunak
not only went ahead with it - he quoted a Bible verse in a (poor) attempt to justify it. Really no need for that.
Anyone else noticing a kind of 'lockdown' by default going on in England...people are choosing to cancel social events, drinks with friends, going out to restaurants etc. Gov says we're free to go out. But many are opting not to...
Wow £10k awarded to a street preacher after it was deemed her arrest was unlawful. Police do a very difficult job but I think some officers need reminding free speech is protected!
@TDieppe
#HIGNFY
is flipping brilliant isn’t it? I’ve watched it all my adult life, and it’s consistently funny. Ian Hislop and Paul Merton deserve knighthoods.
This has shocked me. I saw prominent church leaders RUSHING to accuse Israel of war crimes. Almost gleeful. Now the truth has come out and there’s silence.
We have never seen a more graphic example of the double standards applied to Israel than the wave of condemnation that erupted when people thought the IDF were responsible for the hospital attack, followed by the silence accompanying the realisation it was Hamas or their proxies.
When you’ve read the Bible for years you forget how revolutionary it is. Just heard a story of someone struggling with anxiety who read Jesus’ words “Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough trouble of it’s own” and said “that’s amazing! It should be taught in schools”
Dear Christian leader, you DO NOT need to start a “leadership podcast”. 36 perfectly good ones already exist. Trust me! I listen to most of them!!
#crowdedmarket
Strikes me that a lot of our evangelism is geared towards atheists (0.00017%) rather than moving the 'tick a box Christians' (46%) toward a more committed/practising/engaged faith (6%).
From census, Talking Jesus and other research we can work out:
England & Wales population - 59.6M
Christian - 27.5M (46.2%)
Church attending - 6M (10%)
Practising Christian - 3.6M (6%)
Evangelical (est) - 1.5M (2.5%)
Atheist - 10,000 (0.00017%)
@preston_shipp
Indeed. And Paul’s point was if Jesus hadn’t been raised from the dead, then Christianity (and everything that means and everything which comes with it incl church) is pointless. I’m interested what you make of that answer
@katie_gatens
@CharlotteIvers
@thetimes
Hi Katie thanks for reporting on this. There are a few glaring errors. Biggest problem is the opening para. I’m guessing you never attended Soul Survivor? If you had, I don’t think you would have written it that way.
We're running a series in
@Christianitymag
where 'normal' people with 'normal' jobs explain how their faith connects to their work. There's something really inspiring about people quietly getting on with being salt and light Thanks
@PaulTWoolley
@liccltd
My day job involves publishing a broad range of views...but once in a while, a story comes along which...
UNITES THE ENTIRE CHURCH!
This is one of those days. Enjoy...

HTB churches run Love Your Neighbour, The Money Course, Foodbanks, Safehavan (homelessness), CAP centres, Spear (employment), Growbaby (free clothing to families in need), SafeFamilies and more.
Dr Aaron Edwards was fired by his Bible college after posting a tweet which went viral and upset a lot of people. He’s now suing his former employer. I had questions! Here are the answers…
@aaron_p_edwards
Having just sent the final issue of 2022 to print, now feels like a good time to say thank you - to our incredible team of
@Christianitymag
writers and editors, and our faithful subscribers for coming on the journey with us!
Can someone make a list of Conservative MPs who (rightly) said 3 months ago Boris was unfit to be PM because of lack of integrity, and who are now backing him to be PM again? I would suggest such MPs are lacking…here’s that word again… INTEGRITY
I don’t like the rebranding to X either. I’m not a Musk fan boy. Blah blah blah. But I genuinely don’t understand why any of this would or should result in me leaving Twitter. What am I missing?
@lecrae
Huge fan of your music. Huge fan of your books. Huge fan of what you stand for and how you represent Christ. Thanks for all you do, and thanks for giving us at
@Christianitymag
an interview last year. With love, a British evangelical.
