Birdie Greenwing lives alone in Brighton since her husband and sister passed. She's fiercely independent but when she's diagnosed with cancer, she has to accept support. A novel of warmth & humour, community, friendship & love.

Weekend read. Loved it. Fabulous chrs and pg turning story. Set in mid 18thC, Durie & Lucinda Proudfoot are the daughters of a Lewes bonesetter - Durie dreams of succeeding him but Lucinda gets pregnant & they move to an aunt's in London for the baby's birth.
