yep, someone on reddit hypothesized they were testing to see what three lines of text would look like on a staging site and it went live without being fixed
Studying defamation in my media law class, and it sure is making me appreciate how big of a deal

’s Hosseinzadeh v. Klein was. Lowkey kind of astonished the case isn’t in our textbook :/
My goal every day is to leave work feeling like I did something good. Nearly every journalist I know feels the same — a fierce desire to improve the lives of people in their community. Just want to let that sit.
This didn’t have to happen.
After
@1819News
published pictures of Smith Station Mayor Bubba Copeland wearing women’s clothes and makeup, the official took his own life.

What hurts so much about this is that she so clearly wants her dad to say she did a good job. She admires the work he does! She wants to be like her dad! Get a grip!!
Today is my first day back at

I am super excited to return to the team as I embark upon my post-grad career as an investigative reporter for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. It's such an honor to be given the opportunity to report in the communities I grew up in!

This year, I will be a Poynter-Koch media fellow! In this program, I’ll learn how to be a better journalist from some of the best. I feel so honored to be a member of this cohort, and I’m so excited to be doing it while in my new role

Today's my last day at 🥹 I'll spare y'all the long posting since I've already done that elsewhere, but just 1 thing:
Everyone at this company cares so deeply about the impact of their work, and it's changed me for the better — as a person and journalist.
I feel humbled to write about a pioneer in Southern gender, race, sexuality and class theory.
Minnie Bruce was described by one of her friends as a "sensual, passionate, loving, deeply, unapologetic, Southern, femme lesbian" and a "Bama girl" at heart.
So excited to announce that I will be the Editor-in-Chief at the
@MercerCluster
for the 2021-2022 academic year!
We had great fun celebrating all our achievements at the end-of-year banquet tonight. Our staff did some wonderful things this year... It’s only gonna get better!!
Everyone meet my journalism dad
@i_oriion
🥰 He was my mentor this week at
#NLGJA2022
and he has been the best person ever to me as I worked on my story and navigated this program. He is going to get so many texts from me forever and ever ❤️
In the '80s, there were about 200 lesbian bars around the US. Today, there are less than 20.
One of them is in Mobile, AL, and I got the chance to talk with the owners about what their bar means to them.

Except it looks like me and my friend — and easily over 200 people — were victims of a massive ticket scam! People who used

Sexual assault nurse shortages are present across the US, but it's especially stark in one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. Here, victims of SA can't walk into any hospital to get a rape kit, leaving many to give up.

Being critical of the place you live doesn't mean you hate it. I want Alabama to be kinder, more just & fair, less judgmental. I want this because I live here & love it. Yes, it breaks my heart at times, but it is home.
Super exciting news!!
Today, I was accepted into

Learned a lot, grew a lot, and made a whole lot of new friends.
Here are some memorable experiences I had and stories I wrote ⬇️

we should all aspire to be like the red hills salamander 🦎🦎🦎

@lostblackboy
It was giving too much 2012 yas gay pride for me in all the marketing but when I finally came across a trailer it seemed like a solid movie? Idk I think they missed the mark w all the visual advertising
Today is my first day at the

One of the most important people in my life passed away last Friday. She helped me join the high school journalism staff in 8th gr., and she’s been there for me ever since. Even in college, I shared so much with her. It’s safe to say I wouldn’t be the same person without her.

Very happy to announce I will be continuing my tenure as EIC at the

My first issue as Managing Editor at the

Something I’ve found interesting reading about other colleges is that — while Mercer’s breaks are called Reading Days — most places are calling them Wellness Days.
In practice, I’m sure they’re the exact same, but it makes me think about the University’s priorities.
I was searching through some archives and stumbled upon this... don't tell my present-day colleagues some of them were working there when this was published 🙈
Def at least a step above a park bench Eagle Scout project...
All jokes aside, check out this awesome project started by a local Boy Scout who wanted to make sure our bay ecosystem stays intact:
