@giofabman I wonder if Binder and Heupel’s papers on UN legitimacy might help here? Maybe even Stone- you could argue that powerful states care about institutional legitimacy, which requires some equilibrium between their prefs and others

Participation is a key resource both for states - to accomplish their foreign policy goals - and IOs - to secure legitimacy. Our findings show the effects of IO design on the ability of states to effectively participate in IO policymaking processes. 3/3

Some IOs - like the IMF, UNSC, and the WHO - group small states together in 'proxy' systems, while powerful states speak for themselves. In new work with @ProfRickyClark and @KayaOrloff in @The_PEIO, we focus on the case of climate change in the IMF. 1/3

It is such a thrill to be the lead article in the new @apsrjournal! @Chris_W_Blair and I show that hurricane exposure increases concern about and support for policies to address climate migration & climate action, leveraging the quasi-experimental case of Hurricane Ian
