For rocks or harder surfaces in particular, a lot of sculpts made by new artists will come off looking 'play-doughish' and this is sometimes caused by pen pressure, but with a mouse you can retain those hard edges and actually use them to introduce new forms.

Another great tip is try not to worry about getting a sculpt perfect first time. Most mornings i'll do a 30 minute - 1 hour sculpt just to get in a creative mindset for work that day. These aren't meant to be perfect or correct, they're just a means to build your visual library.

Most importantly, experiment! Start with a dynamesh'd sphere to a resolution of your choice, MatCap Gray, and use trim smooth border with a square alpha. Then start sculpting away! Practice tapping, dragging, and don't press undo. You're just practising at this stage!

I've only ever had one studio offer me feedback after I was declined and I was stunned. It felt so genuine and encouraging that although I wasn't the right fit for them, they took 10-15 minutes to share with me how I could improve and I'm forever grateful to them for it.
