@rilwis Yep, you can not rely on transients being stored in the SQL database. This is a really bad flaw that shows up in some plugins, as they assume they're there and totally fail when an object caching backend is used.

@rilwis They both get stored in the object cache, but the options also get stored in the SQL database too. I don't think transients would exist otherwise, as the expiry time could have just been added to the options system.

@nathanrice I'm surprised it's not baked into #WordPress already. I was even more surprised to find that I couldn't find an existing tool for this.

@bgardner I remember some spectacular themes from back then. You were more than a step ahead of the rest.
