I ran back inside and waited. I just wanted a sheet or something to wrap myself in. When an ambulance came the paramedics gave me a blanket. They thought this was hilarious. I said “I’m sure this happens all the time.” They said “No.”

Use of “queer” as an affirming word by queer people goes back to at least the 1980s. The slogan “We’re here. We’re queer. Get used to it!” is from 1990. It’s hardly new.
As to Karl’s point that only 15,000 people said they were queer in the census, “queer” wasn’t a given option.

It turns out doctors are much better than nurses at keeping a straight face. One doctor was concerned that I’d be suffering from exposure. Every now and then a nurse would come round the corner and either giggle or say “oh bless.”

The LGB Alliance website lists 6 campaigns. All 6 relate to removing rights for trans people or legalising anti-trans speech. Even their campaign on ending conversion therapy explains that by ‘conversion therapy’ they mean affirmation of trans people.

Nowhere in the article does it say that he said this. The closest it gets is to say he supports “the implementation of the Equality Act, including the single-sex exemption which allows the provision of women-only spaces”, but that doesn’t mean excluding trans women.

It’s not lack of decency that would stop people selling things to us, it’s that inbound cargo has to be checked which slows everything down.
If we allow trucks in without checks then that’s equivalent to legalising every ingredient - which in turn means ppl won’t buy our exports

Does anyone else have nominally supportive parents but just find themselves unable to tell them anything about their gay/social lives?
I just phoned home for the first time in a while, and wanted to mention Brighton, or other Pride events, or anything I’d done, and I just can’t.
