Can you throw accurate one hand passes with EITHER hand right out of the dribble? Cannot begin to estimate how many hours I spent perfecting that? Why? So I was trusted to initiate action (start offense) as a primary ball handler. (Plus I’m under 6’0).

What are you doing as a player when no one is watching and your phone is sitting in your bag? Are you working on finishes at top speed? Can you make reverse layups with either hand? Underhand scoops? Bank shots 5-7 feet from basket? Are you speed dribbling end to end?

- You can accomplish so much more if you get yourself up and moving by a certain time every day. Give yourself 1 or 2 days a week to sleep in, but for the most part, PLAN to use the time to do what most WILL NOT.

Before you can be a player that helps your team win tough games/rivalry games/ PLAYOFF games…. You need to be 1 that helps your teams win in PRACTICE. 2nd team? Scout team? Doesn’t matter. Find ways to impact the success of the group you’re playing with on a given day.

What’s wrong with working for a non Fortune 500 company and making a good living? ….. What’s wrong with playing for a non D1/D2 and getting a degree + a chance to play at the college level? Spots are HARD to find- get one, don’t let anyone else take it.

Players - shoot 50 sets of 3. If you don’t make 2 out of 3 shots in a set, it doesn’t count. Up & Back and start that set over.
The key is to get through the workout with less than 5 sets failed.

The best way to get into a rhythm in a game is to get a sense from the bench of how the game is being played and think of an ingredient your team is missing, try to hone in on bringing that to the table - this builds your confidence as a player as it builds trust w team/staff.

If you’re below 6 feet as a MBB hopeful, and you can’t make a weak hand layup at full speed against no defender, you just aren’t a college player- simple as that.

You need to work on your off-hand finishes AT TOP SPEED. Focus on making a higher percentage each week.

Remember the seniors from your teams last year? Reach out to them. Are they still on a college roster? If so, they checked quite a few boxes. They can tell you what the competitive nature of college basketball is like. Ask them questions.

PLAYERS: You don’t have to average 30ppg to play to college! Be efficient, be a vocal defender, be a great teammate, and IMPACT THE GAME positively! There are plenty of players averaging less than 12pts that go play college basketball across all levels! Do more than just score!

I would change the CHARGE from a personal foul to a violation/turnover
Because it’s such a judgment call and it gets called incorrectly so often, I hate that it comes into play and can affect the outcome of games when a player picks up a personal in those tweener plays.
