Last year, the City of Vancouver painted a dire picture over its financial situation. But the 2020 financial statement shows the city performed better than expected: A surplus of $229 million exceeded the budgeted surplus of $168.7 million by $60.2 million. #COVID19 #vanpoli

I hope that after you read the report, as a city councillor, you will question the funds provided to the special interest groups in the DTES, who have only taken advantage of this marginalized community. #wemustdobetter

I have SO many follow-up questions about this VPD study. Like: - How much (public) $$ did the report cost? - Why did they hire a tech firm from Alberta? Was there a public RFP process? Can we see the RFP? - Why is the VPD doing this without talking to the City? What was the goal?

Thank you Pivot for pushing your anti-police rhetoric. More dis/mis information. You are truly the ones trying to manipulate society. #defundpivot No more frivolous and vexatious allegations

We support our city's front-line workers efforts to meet new challenges and better address longstanding issues. If you agree that recent developments have raised public safety concerns, please use your voice to ensure our councilors are in a position to hear from all sectors.

This civic election, we at the VPU decided to take a stand on behalf of our members and the citizens they serve and protect every day. “ They owe you more than just their industry; they owe you their judgment” We COULDN’T afford to sit this one out. #safetyisaright #vanpoli

@TheTyee We heard from 171,494 voters a month ago who overwhelmingly supported candidates calling for more police and mental health workers on our streets. Defund doesn’t work, and Vancouverites know that.

Disappointed to say the least about a council who fell for all the rhetoric. So much for evidence based decision making, member wellness, member mental health, or what the public told you they wanted.

@kennedystewart Irresponsible virtue signalling by the mayor. Should you not have the facts before you publicly make comments about a police incident. This was an unfortunate incident with well respected Justice Romilly & had nothing to do with race.

I have been avoiding Twitter. But this brought me back. Anyone else questioning this statement by the Exec Director of BC Civil Liberties... ? The same person who wants to abolish police. Honest question - how is this not hate and incitement?
