@RainbowFaithCo1 Because, at present, the church is proving inept at safeguarding, not least with bishops sitting on cases they don't want to be public. So there should be compulsory reporting to an independent body to ensure it happens.

@FrYSWalker @johnmilbank3 The real issue with the controversy was not so much the underlying theology but the fact that the Western church changed the creed without the consent of the whole church.

If the safeguards are being weakened at this stage it does not bode well.
Lots of MPs voted for the bill at 2nd reading in the expectation that there would be stronger safeguards added at committee stage… and yet we now see that even the weak safeguards that existed, are being dropped.
