Now I can finally enjoy Paw patrol with my kids properly 😅

Presenting Dark mode in front of ~200 people of our Tech department has been certainly a bit intimidating, but giving our team some visibility and being able to preach about accessibility in such a big forum has made it worth the effort 😊

Last year we merged Product, Brand, and Marketing—both historically controlled by marketing—into a single Design team. This year, the goal is to make the Design system and Brand teams work more in sync forming Core design. We’re still not there yet, but I hope we will soon 😊

Unless you’re introducing a completely new pattern or redefining an existing one from the ground up, I’d say: don’t wait until it’s perfect for publishing it. Having small pieces available —the ones that are clear at least— is better than having nothing. You can improve it later.

In my opinion, it removes creativity from places it doesn’t add value or adds fragmentation, giving designers more time to focus on real problems. But new problems sometimes require either designing new solutions or evolving existing ones. Design systems must enable that too

Every two weeks, members of the same platform using our design system gather together to discuss components, flows, or things like file organization, etc. We call them Glues. It’s a great way to see other points of view, to mature ideas, inspiration, or empathize with each other.

Two of the simplest and most effective techniques for testing accessibility.
I’ll add one more: Disable your CSS. Does your document have a proper hierarchy and structure? If not, you should probably check out your semantics. There’s an HTML tag for almost everything.
Two accessibility tests to add to your kit:
Tab your entire site - if you lose visual focus, have mismatch w/ visual order, or get trapped in invisible elements, fix it!
Zoom desktop to 200% and 400% - fix overlapping elements and other negative reflow consequences
