I think the analogy here though is that you have every right to stop a gang member who is trying to harm you, but you don't have a right to break into his grandmother's house and shoot her just because she is related to him. That's my point; if someone is no threat then they shouldn't be killed simply because they have some relational association to an armed combatant.

@BowTiedLope @LincolnBbooks It should go without saying that I don't support sending them condoms either.

@BryanMillsFist It is still morally wrong to murder noncombatants regardless of historical context. We need to stop pretending like we can divide historical figures neatly into 'good guys' and 'bad guys' when, again, history is more complex.

@harveyspistols Sure, but when governments go out of their way to kill innocent civilians instead of confining combat to the battlefield we should be able to criticize that, right?

@BryanMillsFist Committing atrocities against innocent civilians during war is criminal. We don’t need a government document to say it’s wrong. Also a critique of Lincoln is definitely not an endorsement of the south. History is complicated and we shouldn’t approach it like 3rd graders.

@CptAncapistan I feel the same way about my wife! I guess it’s homosexual to be attracted to members of the opposite sex these days.

@TubRorabaugh I enjoy it! I do sincerely think the algorithm auto-unfollows me from people sometimes but maybe I’m just crazy haha

Yes, as we have discussed before I have a problem with most of the political and economic labels used in popular discourse because they aren't specific enough. It just like when people pretend that George W. Bush and Barack Obama were radically different because they come from different parties but in reality their policies were almost identical.
