On this Ascension Day, let us "lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens” (Lamentations 3.41). May we be, however, not as mourners, longing for a God whom we see no more, but as a people who rejoice to see God in heart and mind all the days of our life.
"It's amazing how often the Bible quotes the Book of Common Prayer". Joking aside, the Prayer Book is shot-through with Scripture. A website developed in the last few years by

A very happy Feast of Saint John the Baptist! Today we read in the Book of Isaiah words of comfort. A Messiah was promised to God's people, even God himself, who would, "Feed his flock like a shepherd". John prepared the way for Christ, who guides our feet into the way of peace.
From the Catechism
My duty towards God is to believe in him, to fear him, and to love him; [...] to worship him, to give him thanks, to put my whole trust in him, to call upon him, to honour his holy Name and his Word, and to serve him truly all the days of my life.
As the Lord's Day draws to a close, the Second Collect at Evensong recalls that of the Day. And so we pray that God from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed would grant unto us, His joyful servants, that peace which the world cannot give. Amen.
From the ordering of Priests
"Ye are called... To feed and provide for the Lord's family; to seek for Christ's sheep that are dispersed abroad, and for his children who are in the midst of this naughty world, that they may be saved through Christ for ever."
From the Gospel reading appointed for St Philip and St James's Day:
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me". (St John 14.6)
Litany Fridays
