Today I fixed a long standing bug in Wordle's puzzle selection code that was causing folks in certain timezones to get the incorrect puzzle. This largely affected my friends in Australia and New Zealand. 1/2
Added a share button to Wordle that generates a spoiler-free emoji grid for you. Shoutout to
@irihapeta
for inventing such a cool way to share your results each day.

Wordle 180 3/6
Try it out:
A byproduct of this change is that affected users may skip a puzzle. E.g. If you played
#204
yesterday you may end up with
#206
today. I am sorry to deprive you of a Wordle. 2/2
If you like Wordle you should check out Knotwords. It is an incredibly elegant daily word game. What impresses me most is that, despite its deceptively simple appearance, it has clearly been built with a great deal of thought and care.

Initially I included the URL but I found that the share card ends up being the most visually dominant part of the share. Part of the appeal of the emoji grids for me is the simple aesthetic. I decided that was more important to me than the growth.

Thanks Kendra! I originally made this game for my partner who is also a Spelling Bee enthusiast. Currently there is no way to play past games, though I may look at adding some kind of archive in the future.
The first episode of my new interview series,

This is a recent talk I gave on why I think April Fools' Day in Silicon Valley is terrible and how we tried to change that at Reddit. It also shares some of the lessons we learned creating projects like The Button and Place.

Thanks for the shoutout

. Place was created in response to the lack of imagination around what human interaction on the web could be. I gave a talk on this:

accurately reflects some of the complexity of managing human interactions online. I make an appearance talking about Place. I tried to tell the fact checker that I always look pallid.

A new Wordle becomes available at midnight local time. So it changes at NZ midnight for them. If you want to make sure you are discussing the same day without spoilers, you can go to the settings page at look for the puzzle number in the bottom right.

Wow, you're the first person I don't know who has contacted me about Wordle! Glad you're enjoying it. How did you find out about it?
To answer your Q: Wordle is entirely client side. A new puzzle is available at midnight local so I am not sure of the value of an RSS feed.
@xuhulk
Great suggestions, thank you. I've moved the text above the emoji-soup. Will look at using the keycap emoji for the grid numbers as
@xor
suggested.
@sophiebits
Yeah, only green and yellow clues matter. Truthfully, I don't recall the specifics of the decision. I just remember I discussed it with a few people and ended up here. Maybe a fear of making it too hard? Though knowing what I know now, I might go with your interpretation instead.

There is currently a bug with the puzzle selection code that is causing certain timezones to receive the incorrect day's puzzle, as you've noticed.

Thanks for the report. I thought I was checking if the share API existed and then falling back to copying to clipboard. I guessed I missed something around firefox's implementation.
@mjmayank1
There is a share button beneath the results modal.
What platform are you playing on? Afaik, some ad blockers hide the button because it has the text 'share' in it.

@auslon
Sorry about that. I am pretty sure this should be resolved for you for tomorrow's puzzle. Can you DM me if the issue persists.

Does anything happen when you click the share button on the results page? Are you playing on a phone or desktop? And what web browser are you using?

Yeah, looks to be a chunk of the black void the artist was interested in. It is called 'Collective Rorschach Test' by Agnieszka Kurant.
@carolsgunn
I may look at adding a dedicated spot in the UI for sharing. For now, if you refresh the page the modal with the share button should re-appear.

If you refresh the page after completing a puzzle, they'll display.
Currently they cannot be displayed unless you've completed the puzzle for the day.
