Exactly this! I don’t buy into the antiquated idea of keeping salaries a secret and I have told my colleagues mine. Hiding it means that businesses can recruit skilled people from lower paid businesses/industries for less than existing workforce, driving down the avg wage.

I disagree, to use an example from my own field (H&S) it’s widely accepted that the most effective way of reducing the total number of incidents is to deal with the workplace culture. You have to get down to the underlying root cause not just investigating individual accidents.
