I’ll say it again. I’ve met very few safeguarding officers who are servants of Christ. Almost all of them are slaves to the church, trained and happy to silence survivors. You can tell whose heart is in the right place in one minute. I met with some safeguarding officers recently and I asked them what they thought the most important thing they need to help a survivor of clergy abuse? One woman said, we need to be trauma informed. I said if I want my trauma dealt with I will go and visit a trauma expert. I want a safeguarding officer who is going to ask me about my broken relationship with the church and that they understand completely how so many survivors turn into social outcasts and misfits because the church strips us of all our dignity and our morals and our ethics by putting the shame back onto us. I want a safeguarding officer that understands what it’s like to live such a life. I want a safeguarding officer that says, I want to walk with you in healing that relationship. If they need any help in how much damage the church has done to survivors all they have to do is go to any prison across Britain and they will find hundreds if not thousands of survivors of historical clergy child abuse whose only crime was trying to have their voices heard. So many men and woman who were silenced, discredited, isolated, gaslighted and criminalised, and have spent their whole lives going through the revolving doors of addiction, crime and prison and early graves. You will never see @Channel4News or anyone else looking for these poor souls. This is the real cover up..

You have to understand that the Scottish child abuse inquiry was set up to fail! Why do you think so many people resigned? Just like the the Scottish child abuse redress scheme, the more bad publicity they can get out to the public domain the less chance there is of more people coming forward. The cover ups in the inquiry are so obvious. It’s not what is in the reports, it’s what’s missing. When you look at the inquiry web site and see how much they have ignored or covered up it’s as good as a written confession. I actually believed everything we were told and when I was campaigning I encouraged hundreds, yes hundreds of men and woman to come forward and then when the reality hit in and I went to give my testimony it was devastating. I was already told that I couldn’t talk about certain things and they suddenly produced my records that I had been looking for, for years and I knew right away that these were false records and the worse thing was that they knew I knew they were false records. It’s totally inhumane how so many survivors were/are being treated.
