After designing Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, I’m super proud to announce that my first solo game dev project Feed the Deep is out... NOW!
Feed an eldritch horror before it feeds on you as you explore deep-sea caves and manage limited resources in this underwater roguelite.
Figured out how to feel better about my awful code. I just put all of my bad hacks at the bottom of a file, and give it a cute little house to live in, forever.
Now I feel great.
It's official! My first solo project since quitting my job is launching later this year. I designed Fruit Ninja & Jetpack Joyride, but solo dev is new to me.
Feed the Deep is a lovecraftian deep sea roguelike. Feed the eldritch horrors that dwell below, before they feed on you.
This is why I have been investing energy into YouTube for the last 2 years. It can (sometimes) massively move the needle for a small indie developer like me.
I am very excited to reveal the release date for my first solo project, a Lovecraftian underwater roguelike, which features eldritch horrors, procedural generation, and one big, sinister monster at the bottom of it all.
Feed the Deep releases on August 16th!

3 years ago I saw a someone climb this and thought "I will never be able to do that"
1 year ago I decided "that's a shitty attitude, let's make this a long term project"
14 sessions and hundreds of tries later, it went. Stoked.
I always liked seeing the little fireworks animation in Youtube Studio when a video had a good start. I guess I won't be seeing that again for atleast a little while after this one:
You know that feeling in your chest when you realise you left your phone on the table at the cafe? Or you look over the edge of a big cliff?
I've had that for (checks watch) all day 😅
This is what my game trailer looked like after 1 hour of work - barely any shots and mostly just blocking titles. Was seriously tempted to just make THIS the real trailer, haha. Helps that the music is an original by Cedar Jones!
Tad late, but I'm going to

Feed the Deep is a dark, underwater cave diving game. Think Dome Keeper meets Dave the Diver meets... spooky tentacle monsters?
Check out the demo out now!

Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk ✅
Not usually about "ticking off" walks, but this one had eluded me for some time (3 cancelled/abandoned attempts) and seemed cursed . Got it done, but the cursed status remained, as I picked up a painful foot injury on day 2 of 3.
Update: Looks like the Devlog

has coincided with the game getting into the Popular Upcoming Releases on Steam! That would explain some part of the outsized spike. Unsure if it is just coincidental, or if the video helped it cross some threshold?
We are Beta Testing our latest game, Mowing Mazes!
It is available now on TestFlight (iOS only for now). We'd love for you to have a play and let us know what you think! Download it for FREE!
Feed the Deep has a LOT of writing for a roguelite. Monique has done an incredible job adding so much life and history.
I love how this optimistic news report contrasts against the game premise.
Copying text from a Google Doc into a Google Sheet. Same document with the same text somehow has like 8 possible outcomes. Will it be bold? Will it be split across multiple cells, or one cell with line breaks? Will the font and size be different? It's a fun mystery every time.

's boss told him he needed to design a game that brought in $300k by the end of the year else the studio would have to close. Shortly thereafter, while watching a late night commercial for knives, the idea for Fruit Ninja came to him:
Does anyone have a computer they would generally consider a potato that they still play games on? Trying to get a better idea of the min spec for Feed the Deep and would love one or two people to try a test build.
