Constituents who have contacted me regarding Dominic Cummings can rest assured I’ve conveyed the strength of local feeling to relevant colleagues very robustly in Government. I’ll respond to all emails when I’m back in the office after the bank holiday.
My CV is good thanks, unlike you I understood how channel 4 was funded and worked and aren’t as unpleasant as you were to colleagues. I’ll call that a win.
@pauljholmes
Just like your election had nothing to do with you and everything to do with the man who won you your seat.
A lesson you are about to learn the hard way.
How’s the CV coming along?

The EU committed to follow the spirit of the WA agreed and have threatened to penalise the UK over territorial integrity. That’s why I’ll be voting for the safeguards contained in the Bill next week while also being assured of the 100% aim to get a deal
Labour, SNP and the Lib Dem’s still want to thwart the decision made by the UK to leave the EU. They want a delay and extension. I was not elected to delay Brexit any longer and I’ll never support a delay.
Sue Gray in fresh row as now her son announces he is running to become a Labour MP
He is battling to be selected to run for a new tasty seat in south London
It’s the privilege of my life to have been elected as the new MP for Eastleigh. I’ll work daily to repay the trust they’ve put in me. Hard work starts now.
#GE2019
I’m humbled and honoured to have been elected as the MP for
#Eastleigh
last night. However, the hard works starts now. I want to represent everyone in this constituency to the best of my ability and be a champion for our area!
It was great to have
@BorisJohnson
in West End South with Jerry Hall today meeting local people and talking about our vision for West End. Lots of support. Polls open tomorrow at 7am, please
#VoteConservative
Boris Johnson should be sacked, no question. His comments break collective responsibility and clearly he has no confidence in the PM on negotiations. Time for him to put up or shut up. I hope it’s the latter.
Banning smoking inside venues is one thing, banning in public gardens is another. It’ll kill the pub trade, encourage drinking at home and kill the hospitality trade. I’ll vote against it.
🚨 BREAKING: Keir Starmer is set to ban smoking outside of pub gardens, nightclubs and football stadiums according to leaked government plans

We need stability and experience at the top of our Government to get us through these tough times,
@RishiSunak
has the track record of delivery. Therefore I can confirm I’ve nominated him for Leader of the Conservative Party and will be voting for him on Monday.
An honour to be asked by the Prime Minister
@RishiSunak
and
@nadhimzahawi
to be Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party with responsibility for Policy. Looking forward to engaging with members across the country.
A worthy leader owns it.
He apologises and looks for a way to do better.
What he doesn’t do is pathetically blame anyone or anything other than himself.
Great to have
@BorisJohnson
at
@SOU_Airport
to discuss the extension to the runway which the PM today backed for jobs and investment in our local region.
Regardless of party this shouldn’t have happened. Why do we never take the security of our party leaders or national politicians seriously, glitter this time but could have been much worse.
Tomorrow my office will be closed to celebrate the wonderful life of my friend, confidante and public servant Sue Hall, who passed away a couple of weeks ago. Sue was my office manager who literally helped thousands of people locally. I’ll miss her greatly as will my team. ❤️

Matt Hancock has made the right decision to resign as Health Secretary. Many people in my patch have been through tough times and followed the rules and regulations. We can’t have one rule for us and one rule for others.
A huge honour to be elected to serve as MP for the Hamble Valley constituency. A tough night, but I’ll work tirelessly for the constituency I’m proud to call home.
Pleased to have spoken in the
#LoanChargeDebate
to highlight the hardship and unfairness this has caused. I’ve called on Ministers to
#STOPtheLoanCharge
and help those affected
Trust and integrity are important to me and my constituents. As I said when I resigned a few weeks ago, we’ve been distracted from delivering for the British people. Recent events have only reinforced this view. It’s clear to me that the PM should resign.
For 2.5 years Labour have accused the Conservatives of making people choose between eating and heating.
One of Labour’s first acts in Government is to cancel winter fuel payments for pensioners.
Age UK warns that means testing the winter fuel allowance will hit some of the poorest in society the hardest
They include 800,000 people who are entitled to claim pension credit but do not do so
A further 1million who are just above the threshold for claiming pension credit
I’m supporting
@RishiSunak
to lead us into the next election. He led the charge for a Solent Freeport and being from Southampton knows our challenges and how to solve them. I am convinced he’s ready for the challenges ahead.
#Ready4Rishi
Last night I officially ‘swore in’ as the MP for
#Eastleigh
meaning I can now speak and vote in the House of Commons on your behalf. We are still setting up offices so please be patient when writing to me, we are working as fast as possible.
I have championed the extension of the runway at
@SOU_Airport
because it is essential for our local economy and thousands of local jobs. I’m pleased that
@EastleighBC
have approved the runway extension.
This is the right decision and secures the future of Southampton Airport.
Ed Davey is behind the curve, the Conservatives tabled the same motion last week. We committed to keeping the Winter Fuel Allowance and so did Labour. The real question is will the Lib Dems back our motion?
🚨 NEW: Lib Dem leader Ed Davey has announced his party will table a motion to block the government’s proposed cut to Winter Fuel Payments as soon as Parliament returns from recess next week
Devastating result.
@SOU_Airport
extension rejected. The Council need to overturn this decision. If they do not they will be voting to close Southampton Airport. A huge blow to my constituents and I’ll work tirelessly to reach the right outcome. Time for less talk, more action.
I've known
@JamesCleverly
since he rose through the ranks of Lewisham politics. He can connect with a broad range of voters from all over the UK and offers fresh leadership needed for the Conservative Party. I'll be supporting him all the way.

I joined the Conservative Party to deliver for the great people of this country. The Prime Minister cannot do that. The last few days have left me in despair. I believe the Prime Minister should resign and have written my letter to Sir Graham Brady.
Sir David Amess was a man dedicated to public service and was deeply respected across the House of Commons. A deeply infectious smile and unfailingly charming to everyone. I’ll miss him greatly.
This is why I took the time to say how I voted yesterday. But you can’t please everyone. This guy has form for homophobic comments to me via social media. 🙄
If
@RishiSunak
becomes PM without a single interview or a smidgin of scrutiny, let alone a public vote, the British electoral system will look no more democratic than a banana republic. He will have no mandate. And that is disgraceful.
Strong speech from
@JoeBiden
- a sign of what American leadership can become again. Tonight, the light US democracy was dimmed by a President who has incited violence, but it will shine again.
Today I’m backing

The reputation and mechanisms of Parliament are sacrosanct when dealing with punishments and policing of MPs behaviour. That had to be protected and is why I voted for the Privileges committee report tonight.
When I became Lord Chancellor, I was told that our prisons could overflow at any moment.
The last Government dodged difficult decisions and left our prisons in crisis. We will do what it takes to restore law and order in our country.
I’ve been out in
#Eastleigh
today talking about my plan for the area. I’m now officially nominated as your Conservative Candidate. Update from me below 👇
The European Union has a history of riding rough shod over smaller EU states. Tonight they’ve proven it again. While proving their inadequacies in securing vaccines for their citizens they’ve decided to invoke the worst elements of their project. Thankful we are out.
Yesterday I made my Maiden Speech in the House of Commons. I outlined what a fantastic place
#Eastleigh
is. I also outlined my campaigns to develop a new local plan, called for investment in Hamble Lane the much needed road link. I’ll continue to lobby every day to deliver.
As promised to my
#Eastleigh
constituents I said I’d take the terrible local plan proposals to the top of government. I did. It’s time we started on a new local plan and scrapped the one proposed by Eastleigh Lib Dem Council.
The PM has to sack any minister who abstained or voted against the government motion. A government that loses Cabinet Ministers in a three line whip has to act accordingly, or there’s no government at all.
In my first vote as your MP in
#Eastleigh
I voted to enact the bill to leave the EU on the excellent deal we’ve secured. It’s important we respect the 54% of people in Eastleigh who voted to leave and move on to secure the investment we need.
An honour and privilege to be selected as the Conservative Candidate for the new Hamble Valley constituency at the next General Election. Statement here 👇
A bit of friendly competition doesn’t hurt anybody. Good to bump into Labour in Eastleigh. No sign of the Lib Dem’s here. Pop down and see me at Eastleigh Market.
This is disgraceful behaviour. Protesting outside Dominic Cumming’s home, where he has a young child, is nasty and vindictive and a step too far. And yet still not a word said about Labour politicians intentionally breaking social distancing.
An honour to be sworn in as Hamble Valley’s first MP last night. And I swear this oath on behalf of my constituents who I’ll work tirelessly for daily.
Language unbecoming of a National politician. Divisive language and utterly insulting to me. Let me tell you, my party leader isn’t any of the below. And as an MP who is part of a minority group, he’s far from homophobic. Apologise
@AngelaRayner
Rayner: “I’m sick of shouting from the sidelines, and i bet youse lot are too. We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, mysoginistic, absolute pile …of banana republic…Etonian…piece of scum…and I held back a little…that I have ever seen in my life”
As promised in the election I’ve raised the unfair local Eastleigh housing plan with the Prime Minister. We must go back to the drawing board.
#Eastleigh
Stephen Hammond gave me my first job, and taught me a lot of what I know. He gave a working class boy like me a chance. He’s in a class of his own and someone who is a dedicated public servant. Parliament will be poorer without him. And so will the Conservative Party.
The King has been pleased to approve the appointment of Paul Holmes MP as an Assistant Government Whip.
This follows the departure from Government of Ruth Edwards MP.
@pauljholmes
Twelve months ago Eastleigh did me a great honour of being elected as their MP. I’ve always tried to represent it in the best way possible. Still so much to achieve and do. But for the last twelve months....thank you.
#Eastleigh
The fact that any Conservative can say this with a straight face is laughable.
Touch some grass. You'll see what you've done to destroy communities and the lives of hard-working people.
So sad to hear the news of James Brokenshire's death, I was briefly his PPS at the Home Office for a short time, he was so kind and open, and a true public servant. He will be missed by all of us. RIP James.
This is exactly why I’m supporting
@Ready4Rishi
@RishiSunak
to be our Prime Minister. He gets investment is needed in southern areas, which suffer from deprivation just like in the North, levelling up can finally mean something in the South, including Eastleigh.
#Ready4Rishi
Supermarkets are once again rammed this morning. Food supply chains are good provided you don’t panic buy. Please only but what you need. Panic buying is selfish and harms those who aren’t as quick as you to get what they need.
Charming email from ‘James Weight’ threatening to kill me and blow up my car because of my support for the airport expansion. Nothing will stop me aiming to do the right thing for my constituency. Reported to police.
Out and about in
#Eastleigh
today. The best campaigners of the lot joined today. Mum and Dad- I think they should be standing for election, chatting away to everyone!
Delighted to have confirmation from Minister
@DehennaDavison
that the Solent Freeport has received its go ahead today. One of the first three to get up and running. Will unlock millions locally and bring investment to our region! Great news! 🎉
In the office early this morning to reserve my seat for
#PMQs
. I’m question number 10 and will be asking about local
#Eastleigh
issues as I promised I would in the General Election.
CNN been a real success story this year.
@JohnKingCNN
has unbounded energy but we should be giving
@Phil_Mattingly
equal respect. They must be bleeding coffee!
Growing up I never thought I would be in this job (mainly because I wanted to be a Jedi).
I'm honoured that on this day last year the PM asked me to serve as Chancellor.
It's been incredibly tough but thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.
Was delighted to meet with the Prime Minister last night to talk about all things Eastleigh and some of the things we need locally. Very productive meeting.
Today I voted for our new leader. I voted for a leader who will deliver Brexit and then govern in the interests of everyone with a moderate agenda. I voted for

Many said we didn’t want a deal and many did we couldn’t do it. But the Government has secured a deal with the EU. Now is the time to move on from the divisions of the past and work together for a brighter future.
Today I spoke against the SNP motion which sets out to delay
#Brexit
and break up the Union. I take the instructions of the people of
#Eastleigh
seriously when they voted to leave the EU. I also believe as the United Kingdom, we can create an exciting new future.
