What happened last night was not funny. Far-left activists disrupted the event, which then had to be stopped for security reasons.
This is done to intimidate people and suppress free speech. I won't stand for it.
Would we see the same reaction if the activists were far-right?
If you listened to Conservative MPs in the Chamber today, you would be forgiven for thinking that sending your child to a state school was some kind of horrible punishment.
I am proud of my state education. Less so of the Tories' legacy of lack of investing in it.
The new government has hit the ground running.
The Conservatives have left us one hell of a mess, we all know that. Fixing that won't happen overnight.
But your Labour government is out of the traps fast.
The change we voted for has begun.
I passionately care about lifting the 7000 children in my constituency out of poverty.
Motions to amend a Kings Speech will not do that.
A serious, considered plan from a Labour government will. I will work constructively with colleagues to ensure we deliver that plan.
I am humbled and overwhelmed to have been selected as our
@UKLabour
candidate to fight the next General Election in Crewe and Nantwich.
My immediate focus turns to ending 13 years of Tory failure in Crewe and Nantwich, and delivering a Labour government led by
@Keir_Starmer
🌹
The catastrophic decision to cancel HS2 leaves the West Coast Mainline at risk of collapse. We must find solutions to unlock the economic potential of our towns and villages, with greater connectivity across the sub-region. I've written to the Rail Minister on the subject.
Lots of outrage at this from the out of touch and vested interests.
I applaud
@bphillipsonMP
for unapologetically standing up for state education and fairness.
Our state schools need teachers more than private schools need embossed stationery.
Our children need mental health support more than private schools need new pools.
Our students need careers advice more than private schools need AstroTurf pitches.
The election has finally been called. It represents an opportunity to turn the page on 14 years of Tory chaos and decline.
Lets go out there and Get Britain's Future Back 🌹
It is an immense privilege to have been elected to represent my home, Crewe and Nantwich, in parliament.
Politics can change things for the better. I look forward to working with my
@UKLabour
colleagues in parliament to deliver that change.
It was a real privilege to welcome
@Keir_Starmer
to Crewe today.
I was really pleased to hear Keir's commitment to work with me, if I am lucky enough to be elected, to deliver the change that Crewe and Nantwich needs.
It's official. I am sworn in as the new Member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich 🌹
I am already at work focused on serving my constituents and delivering on their priorities.
I find the idea of the parents of Elsie, Alice and Bebe trying to grieve the loss of their children while others exploit their pain for political ends - literally and figuratively wrecking our communities - truly horrifying.
Those doing so should be ashamed.
As disappointing as missing out on Uxbridge and South Ruislip is, Rishi Sunak's attempt to pitch it as a success is desperate.
Labour has never won this seat. Not even in 1997. We came within 500 votes.
Meanwhile, we have overturned a 20,000 majority in Northern England.
I agree with the Prime Minister. Those engaging in violent disorder do not represent our country. They should be met with the full of force of the law.

Imagine how you'll feel if you wake up on Friday morning to 5 more years of Tory government.
Don't leave it to chance. Go out and use your vote for change in
#Crewe
and
#Nantwich
on Thursday by voting Labour.
#generalelection2024
Disappointing. This will inevitably limit capacity on the West Coast Main Line north of Crewe.
This is what we have come to expect from this government: infrastructure projects running over budget in the South East (Elizabeth Line £4bn over) + penny pinching for the North.
A section of the HS2 high speed rail line in Wigan is being scrapped - to save around £3 billion. The Golborne Link was set to pass between Leigh and Warrington. Wigan Council were desperate for it to be built - but many local people campaigned against it.
The Tories think we're taxing aspiration by ending private school tax breaks.
But state school parents are aspirational for their children. Mine were.
And this government is aspirational for the 93% of children who deserve a world class education in schools across our country.
I am currently in the process of setting up my office. For this reason, replies to enquiries may take longer than usual.
I hope to have my Parliamentary email set up in the coming days. From that point all correspondence should be directed there.
Thank you for your patience.
Delighted and grateful to
@RachelReevesMP
for her letter today congratulating me on my selection as Labour's parliamentary candidate in Crewe and Nantwich.
I look forward to working closely with Rachel and other Labour colleagues to deliver that much needed Labour government.
I'm standing to be the next Member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich because our towns and villages need an MP that is local, trusted and on their side.
Promoted by Mick Roberts on behalf of Connor Naismith both at 78 Ford Lane, Crewe, CW1 3EH
Crewe has far too many empty shop units after 14 years of decline under this government. I'm delighted to taken on this shop in
#Crewe
as part of my election campaign.
Reviving the high street is a key plank of my plan for Crewe and Nantwich, but why wait!
It was such a privilege to help launch
@connor_naismith
's campaign to become the Labour MP for Crewe and Nantwich. I met people with such enthusiasm and spirit who are just raring to go.
Change.

@UKLabour
Hereditary places have no place in a modern legislature. Currently the UK is one of only 2 countries that still retains them.
Tonight my
@UKLabour
colleagues and I voted to put an end to this outdated position.
🚨IT'S OFFICIAL, I'M ON THE BALLOT🚨
I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me to this point, from friends and family to colleagues from the labour movement, to the many thousands of residents we have spoken to. 🧵
Great news that Blackpool South will have the opportunity to vote for an MP with integrity and the interests of their area at heart.
Chris is born and bred in Blackpool and will be a fantastic champion for the town.
Delighted to have submitted my first written parliamentary question.
Crewe must be at the heart of efforts to improve connectivity between the North and the Midlands 👇
Pleased to be joined by
@NorthWestUNISON
Regional Organiser Dale Ollier in Crewe today and confirm my support for a National Care Service which will finally treat care workers and people receiving care with respect.
#LetsMakeCareWork
Nobody can begin to imagine the pain and suffering currently being experienced by Esther Ghey. Her bravery and strength to continue fighting in her daughter's name is inspirational.
She deserves better than a Prime Minister cracking transphobic jokes to score cheap points.
#PMQs
People from across the political spectrum are supporting my campaign to be the next member of parliament for Crewe and Nantwich.
I am pleased to have the support of former Conservatives like David.
I'm standing to be the next Member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich because our towns and villages need an MP that is local, trusted and on their side.

What a fantastic second day speaking to voters across Crewe and Nantwich about their hopes for the future and how a Labour government can deliver on them.
Finished with a pint in
@leopardjoules

Congratulations to Councillor Ben Wye, who replaces me as the Labour councillor for Crewe West, securing a commanding result in today's by-election.
I look forward to working with him on our shared ambition to change our country, and our community, for the better.
What a great first day of the general election campaign.
A particular highlight for me was chatting to Joe, a local business owner who was telling me how fed up he is of the spiral of decline we've been in under this government.
He is desperate for change Labour offers 🌹
This week I made my Maiden Speech in the House of Commons.
It was a huge honour to have this opportunity to pay tribute to the community I am proud to call my home, and to talk about my hope that we can restore trust in our politics, and aspiration and hope to our communities.
Childcare is such an important issue, both in terms of ensuring our children get the best start in life, and supporting working families.
Labour has a plan to deliver 100,000 new childcare places and deliver on plans to expand free hours to all children from 9 months old.
I meet people all the time who want to tell me that Labour is on course for a landslide victory.
Crewe and Nantwich desperately needs an end to 14 years of Tory chaos and failure, but polls and speculation won't deliver it.
I remain laser focussed on fighting for every vote 🌹
Proud to speak for Crewe and Nantwich this afternoon at
#LabourConference23
about the impact of the decision to cancel
#HS2
and why we need a Labour government serious about ending waste, delivering improved transport infrastructure and winning the trust of the British people.
Growing up, I knew I had a Labour government that would support people like me to meet my aspirations.
I'm delighted to see Labour re-commit to that mission of removing barriers to working class kids like me to get on in life through education.
Well well well... it appears Kieran Mullan MP has failed in his attempt to chicken run out of being held accountable for his record in Crewe and Nantwich.
It begs the question: if Tories in Chester South and Eddisbury don't want him... Why should voters in Crewe and Nantwich?
Britain deserves a pay rise. We've seen the cost of living go up and up while wages stagnate and we get less and less for our money.
That's why I was so pleased to hear the Chancellor commit to a genuine living wage which takes into account the real cost of living.
#Lab24
Great to be out speaking to voters on the estate where my family and I live today.
I'm determined to bring positive change for Crewe and Nantwich because it's my home. We desperately need that change.
I'm glad that so many of my neighbours agree 🌹
Crewe and Nantwich was always a stepping stone for Kieran Mullan's career. As one senior member of his own party put it, he is guilty of "betraying voters in Crewe and Nantwich"
I'm honoured to stand in Crewe and Nantwich because it's mine and my families home and community.
Wow.
What an incredible set of results for
@UKLabour
. London, Manchester, West and East Midlands, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Liverpool... And of course Cheshire (❤️), to name a few, all turning to Labour.
It's time for that general election 🌹
Our country is paralysed under a zombie government limping into an election.
It's time for Rishi Sunak to give the British people a say on our future.
I agree with
@JonAshworth
. He should name a date now.
'I'm challenging Rishi Sunak today to name the date of that May general election'
Amid speculation about whether the general election will be in May or later in the year, Labour's
@JonAshworth

I had a fantastic night at the
@PFA
awards last night. My highlight was of course watching
@crewealexfc
skipper

be included in the League 2 team of the season. It was great to be able to congratulate him in person 🔴⚪
It is self-indulgence at best, and dangerous at worst, to be so relaxed about the coming election.
At the end of 14 years of Conservative devastation and decline, our communities don't have the luxury of 'sending a message' to the opposition. They need change.
Along with
@S_A_Russell
and
@GoAndrCoop
, I have written to The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to request a meeting about the future of Leighton Hospital, following the shocking news of the economic inheritance left by the previous government.
Great to meet up with

We discussed devolution and the significant challenges facing local government 🌹
Today Tamworth and Mid Bedfordshire have the opportunity to send shockwaves through the Conservative party by electing fantastic Labour candidates

I'll be on the phones later today helping them get over the line 🌹
Great day talking to voters in Crewe and Nantwich about how
@UKLabour
will make work pay with our New Deal for Working People. We will deliver:
1️⃣ Rights from day 1
💷 Raise min wage
🚮 Repeal anti-union laws
🛑 Ban 0hr contracts
🚫 End fire & rehire
🤒 Raise sick pay
#newdeal
Great to catch up with
@AndyBurnhamGM
and
@MetroMayorSteve
this morning.
Fantastic to hear that both Andy and Steve really get the vital role Crewe can play in unleashing the potential of Northern towns and cities.
I look forward to working closely with them in the future.
I'm backing calls for compensation for Crewe and Nantwich for the loss of HS2 - a once in a generation levelling up opportunity for our area.
If you are too, sign the petition:
Great to be out again today in Haslington and Winterley engaging with residents about the issues affecting them and their family.
Time and time again, people tell me they have lost confidence in the Conservatives and feel it's time for change. Let's deliver it with Labour 🌹
The Tories mismanagement of HS2 is unforgivable and has failed Crewe and Nantwich.
It is such a relief to have a government that takes management of public money, and delivery of key infrastructure that will connect communities and grow our economy, seriously.
The Tories recklessly mismanaged HS2 and allowed the costs to spiral out of control.
This report lays bare the sheer scale of Conservative incompetence.
We won’t make the same mistakes. We’re assessing the books and will set out next steps in due course.
Great to be out speaking to voters this morning in Crewe.
It's clear that people recognise this government can't be trusted and doesn't serve people like them.
It's time for a change. It's time for a Labour government.
#LabourDoorstep
This afternoon I attended Nantwich Pride with my family. It was great to speak to so many constituents and engage with stallholders about how I can work with them to build a better Crewe and Nantwich.
The sunshine and live music helps too of course ☀️
Had a great time speaking to voters on Crewe Road in Wistaston this afternoon. Lost count of the number of former Conservative voters who said they won't be voting for them this time.
The only way to get them out of Government in Crewe and Nantwich is to vote Labour 🌹
Would it even be
#GeneralElection2024
without ice creams for our family at Queens Park for yet another fantastic picnic in the park.
Well done to the Friends of Queens Park and all the other groups who make this great event happen 🍦☀️
It's time to restore neighbourhood policing.
Labour will bring back 13,000 neighbourhood police and PCSOs, putting a named police officer in every community across
#Crewe

#Nantwich
.
Today
@Keir_Starmer
will unveil 6 practical steps to kickstart the change our country needs.
Only
@UKLabour
can deliver a united vision for change to lead us into the next decade.
I had such an enjoyable morning at Krazy Races in Crewe this morning.
Huge congratulations to
@CreweTCouncil
and all the fantastic businesses, charities and community organisations for making this brilliant event happen.
It's
#SmallBusinessSaturday
. I have a plan to revive our high streets and revitalise our local economy. 14 years of Conservative chaos has let our businesses down and left our communities behind. It's time for change.
Blown away by the positive response on the
#Labourdoorstep
today, in Willaston this morning and in Stapeley this afternoon.
One former Tory in Stapeley summed the feeling up perfectly: "Everything feels broken."
Voters here want change, & a genuinely local MP they can trust.
It was great to have the opportunity to speak to Health Secretary
@wesstreeting
about the importance of rebuilding Raac hospitals like Leighton Hospital in Crewe and Nantwich.
We also spoke about the work being done to tackle waiting lists and build an NHS fit for the future.
The only reason Kieran Mullan is still in
#Crewe
and
#Nantwich
is because Chester South and Eddisbury don't want him.
Sign the petition to tell him to resign so someone who really cares can represent this constituency 👇
Great to be out on the doorstep in Leighton today where we found huge numbers of people switching from the Tories to Labour.
People are fed up of the contant over-promising and under-delivering from this government. It's time for change with
@UKLabour
.
Great to be out in Tamworth today supporting Labour's fantastic candidate
@SarahEdwardsTam
in the by-election on Thursday 19 October.
Great to see the Labour team fighting for every single vote in this crucial election.
Don’t fall for the Tories encouraging people not to vote.
Change will only happen if you vote for it. 🌹
No way is Britain’s general election a done deal. Polls disguise huge uncertainty
My piece in Observer.
A Prime Minister with a Commons majority claiming this is all about how the Labour party votes on his centrepiece legislation.
The ultimate mark of desperation and a Prime Minister who has lost control of his party.
Great to be out speaking to residents on the Marshfield estate in Crewe today, where residents are overwhelming in their demand for change as soon as possible.
Also a real privilege to catch up with Mrs Curran, wife of the late Honorary Alderman Howard Curran 🌹
Happy Father's Day ❤️
I've taken some time off from the campaign today to spend time with my family. This morning we went swimming and now we're getting ready to watch England play their first game of the Euros.
#EURo2024
The Prime Minister's refusal to distance himself from his Tamworth Tory candidate's view that hard working families who are struggling with the cost of living crisis should "F off" tells you all you need to know.

We cannot allow the injustices suffered by bereaved families and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster to ever be repeated again.
I support

#LNW23
Great to be at
#LNW23
and to hear from
@ChrisPWebb
, Labour's candidate for Blackpool South.
Blackpool South couldn't ask for a bigger upgrade on Scott Benton. Blackpool born and bred, Chris has already done so much for his community. He will do so much more as it's MP.
This really does typify the choice in Crewe and Nantwich at this election.
Strong, local, trusted representation with skin in the game or another MP for whom Crewe and Nantwich could literally be anywhere... A stepping stone on their career in politics.
I'm proud to have the support of local small business owners like
@seanayling
.
We need to restore our high streets and I will work tirelessly to ensure businesses like Sean's get the support they need to succeed.
This is absolutely appalling. The Prime Minister himself blocked the rebuild of Leighton Hospital 3 years ago despite the fact that an incident was deemed "likely".
How much sooner could we have had a safe new hospital in Crewe and Nantwich had it not been for inaction man?
EXCL: Rishi Sunak blocked plans to rebuild five hospitals riddled with crumbling concrete three years ago, prompting warnings of “catastrophic” risk to patient safety.
Party politics is often combative and it goes without saying that I fundamentally disagree with Kieran on many things.
That being said, I wish him well in whatever he chooses to do next.
Crewe has once again been overlooked for Levelling Up Funding in yesterday's round 3 announcements.
This is a government which isn't levelling up, but giving up, on Crewe and Nantwich.
I take my responsibility as a candidate seriously. I want to build a meaningful relationship with voters because it is vitally important they can trust me to deliver for them, rather than just talk.
It was a pleasure to chat to Glyn a week or so ago.
@connor_naismith
I have voted in many elections and plebiscites since the early 70’s. Candidates have engaged, but a leaflet through the door is often the only communication. Credit this candidate for chatting at the door and following up with a personal note. Impressive.
I did say it was my aim to deliver for you 📬📬
This week I had the opportunity to visit Royal Mail's Crewe delivery office. I even went out on a delivery round in Leighton with Rachel, who was fantastic, knowledgeable and clearly very popular with residents!
This morning I visited Autism Inclusive which provides a really important service to local young people and adults with autism or ADHD.
If elected I am committed to supporting services like Autism Inclusive to continue delivering their important service.
That's a wrap.
#LabourConference2023
, my first as parliamentary candidate for Crewe and Nantwich has provided a fantastic opportunity to discuss how a Labour government can address the issues facing Crewe and Nantwich.
I look forward to taking our message back out to voters 🌹
2023. What a year.
From leading the local election campaign that saw us gain 6 council seats across Crewe and Nantwich, to being selected as Labour's parliamentary candidate in the constituency I am proud to call home.
Here's hoping 2024 delivers the change our country needs 🌹
