Controversial ig but the only way genshin is getting competition is if they actually tackle the things wrong with hyv games like body/skintone diversity instead of trying to replicate 1:1 what hyv has been doing well for years
Im salty today why does hoyoverse have 100 female characters with the most devastating backstories yet a male character can drop a piece of bread and people will be acting like he's got life long trauma and the girls are badly written for not being happy all the time
Fuck it. Coding, Implications, and How Canon They Are: a 🧵
♡/⟳ are appreciated (image for reach and a visual representation of me praying for the brains of hoyotwt)
like if wuwa or tof had more diversity it would literally only take a little better writing and optimization for me to say they were on par with genshin but when it's all skinny twinks and big booby ladies there's little to call revolutionary about any of these games
A lot of people struggle with Robin's lesbian coding bc they reduce her character to just her femininity and kindness, traits not commonly associated with lesbians due to prejudice, and also traits that are seen as worthless outside of a girlfriend/wife role for a man
Funniest thing is hsr oomfs saying ptn players are elitists hating on kfhime while ptn oomfs are carefully cradling kfhima while spraying holy water on Shalom and Cabernet
@FortuneTuneTuna
Honestly? The hardest part is to cater to the yuri fanbase of hyv games lmao... the only games that I've seen compare at path to nowhere or reverse 1999
I think it's really funny how Ei explicitly went "I place everything (Inazuma) in Miko's hands" but later when Miko said she was fit to be shogun she pretended to be displeased... so unserious
It's crazy how normalized it is for people to say they dislike and avoid wlw ships bc "the fans are toxic" yet if I said I hated every mlm or m/f ship with fans that have wronged me in some way I'd be stoned to death lmao
"Just let women wear what they want" it's a fictional character she didn't stand in front of the closet and choose her outfit for the day a real person made the conscious decision to give her that design why are we acting dense 😭
Genshin Players try not to bitch about LITERALLY everything challenge: Impossible
Just let women wear what they want? Chill tf out its a game bro, you get that right?
I want to lock a "this game has more female characters to pander to incels" fujo and a "this game has more female characters to pander to misandrist lesbians" incel in a room alone together and see what happens
I've said this before and I'll say it again. twt discourse isn't turning people lesbiphobic. These people already hated lesbians and they use discourse as an opportunity because they know they'll get coddled as long as they blame lesbians for "starting it"
Jade's treatment in the fandom is crazy to me because you people are so allergic to talking about colonization and racism in an intelligent manner you would rather hate the colonizer character bc she's... ugly.
Ei is such a crazy case of fandom behavior. She is popular yet most people would have a buffering symbol above their heads if you asked about her character or lore. Discourse about her every other week. Either too mean or too nice for the masses. What is going on
You're allowed to dislike whatever character but when said "dislike" is almost always because of wrong interpretations of the character and at worst bigotry... I think people are allowed to think disliking the character is a red flag
Sunday tried to force everyone into a dream
Aventurine is a member of the IPC
Robin is a lesbian
Acheron is an emanator of nihility
Gallagher is a history fictionologist
Sparkle tried to blow people up
At the end of the day, all Penacony characters are problematic
Hcs are fine but people forget that canon Ei paints her nails, wears a braid that probably takes half an hour to fix, is conscious about manners, has pretty handwriting, does poetry, and above all looks like a stray kitten trying to seem intimidating
When I say I only trust eimiko shippers with their lore I mean it. I am NOT getting my lore from the people that think Miko is Ei's sister/daughter/mother/cousin/aunt/pet/enemy
"people oversexualize and reduce this character to shipping!" and then u try to look for detailed analysis and character study of said character
only to see its made by the same shippers. now what.
That little period of time in hsrtwt where everyone was trying to convince you hating on het ships was transphobic and anti-femenist was so strange like what was in the air back then... so unserious
Controversial take but even if it's a female character that deserves to be hated I think we shouldn't fall for misogynistic arguments by reducing her to fanservice or how appealing or not she is physically. At the end of the day she has a lot more to her character.
Jade's treatment in the fandom is crazy to me because you people are so allergic to talking about colonization and racism in an intelligent manner you would rather hate the colonizer character bc she's... ugly.
Maybe I am a bad person for this but I don't care if mlm or mlw shippers get "undeserved hate" from wlw shippers. yall only want to get along when someone says something bad about your ships and not the hundred times we have told yall you have a wlwphobia and misogyny problem
Robin don't look but there's two ugly bitches next to you- I SAID DON'T LOOK there's two ugly mfs to your left- DON'T TURN YOUR HEAD just walk away slowly dear we'll get you out of this ok just on the count of three- I SAID DON'T TURN YOUR HEAD
First, the question that haunts hoyotwt, "What is coding?"
Well, coding is any subtext made with the purpose of avoiding an explicit mention of an element in the story. This 'element' can range from historical context, a characters identity, and even an opinion the author holds
Saying implications and coding aren't canon is saying that only the things laid out in front of you are canon. And we SHOULD know how boring and reductive of the writing such thinking is. If anything, they make media a much more interesting experience.
"Arle gave Furina cakes they're doing to Arle what they did to Ei" exactly! The fandom can't understand a female character having a personality outside of being pure good or pure evil so they believe any crumb of complexity is just 'uwufying' them! Glad we could clear that up
