@eorden
This is making me think back to this piece:
"Bolton said he believes there is a personal or business relationship dictating Trump’s position on Turkey because none of his advisers are aligned with him on the issue"
GOP WI Sen Johnson: I view this impeachment inquiry as a continuation of a concerted, and possibly coordinated, effort to sabotage the Trump administration that probably began in earnest the day after the 2016 presidential election.
Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.
"Whereas there is growing evidence that the violence at the Capitol was a "false flag" operation designed to discredit President Trump, his supporters..."
Are you kidding me?
It is a truly beautiful thing that Anti-Anti-Trump setting up the really absurd "the FBI is tricking people by putting classified docs on the ground" narrative resulted in Trump admitting he knew what the docs were contained in before that time.
She is the most impressive major US political figure in several decades. The only one I can think of who went so squarely against her interest for the sake of doing what she thought was right in an all-in type manner. Whatever happens, I’m grateful for what Cheney has done.
Liz Cheney: "They know that what he did is indefensible. But they're enabling him and they're collaborating...It’s certainly necessary to defeat Donald Trump. It is also necessary to defeat the politicians who are collaborating with him and enabling what he’s doing."
REMINDER: Rep. Rohrabacher ("Putin's favorite Congressman, per

) was at the Russian Embassy on the date of Don Jr.'s meeting with Russians where they promised dirt on HRC and no one seems to care.
DeSantis: "I used to have such a high regard for these agencies. What they did to Donald Trump with the Russia Collusion was one of the biggest abuses of power in the history of our country. These agencies need to be cleaned out."
If citizens in a democratic republic can't muster enough energy to care about a sustained coup attempt that took place over multiple months, there's a decent chance it is too late to save it.
But fight on, until it's certain.
I don’t think January 6th is going to help the Democrats like the media seems to think it will. But there is a genuine obsession in the press about it. It was a bad day, but it doesn’t outweigh crime, inflation, COVID, school closures, etc. for voters.
The Right, over the last 10 months:
1. Remove Cheney from leadership.
2. Remove Cheney from the party.
3. Put Cheney in jail.
This is because she agrees that it is important to seriously investigate an attempt to overthrow American democracy.
Newt Gingrich said this morning that people serving on the J6 Committee are going to go to jail if Republicans take over Congress after the next election.
Uhhhhhh
"And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge."
Kinzinger told CNN that committee believes that Tony Ornato was personally involved in efforts to discredit the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson while he was still at the agency, and said unnamed Secret Service officials and others simply adopted his side of the story.
@SarahLongwell25
Heck, the *Democratic Party* should be urging WY voters to consider registering as Rs to support Cheney in the primary. There may be a majority of WY voters who are anti-coup, but that may be the only way to get an anti-coup Representative elected.

"They were once Men....Then Sauron the Deceiver gave to them nine Rings of Power. Blinded by their greed, they took them without question, one by one falling to darkness. Now they are slaves to his will.
Clark letter: "we have identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the election in multiple states, including the state of Georgia"
I can't get over this piece.
"The response came Thursday: Oregon would receive about a tenth of the 400,000 masks, gowns and gloves it requested.
Brown said she did not know when the supplies would arrive. “We have received zip, zero, nothing from them”
@jaketapper
I'd prefer we don't worry about consistency w/2013 views for the moment; more important that he be right now even if it means contradiction.
After election day, some Trump Administration officials behaved better, others worse. Some left, some may have done some good quietly, some colluded in the plot, lots just went along. But almost none performed what would have been a real service. None sounded the alarm.
And months earlier, he met in Moscow with the same person who was at the Trump Tower meeting. So he just happens to be at the embassy on the same date as DJTjr is meeting with the same person?
Cheney's political career may end, but her service to the country in a single term has been more valuable than virtually any member who has spent their whole career in Congress. And the history books will record her actions accordingly.
I mean it looks like Biden is angering Satan here and Biden is just kind of like "deal with it Satan." Jesus seems to be offering some mild chastisement.
DeSantis fans thinking Trump ought to be repudiated for not opening an investigation into Fauci is a pretty good window into why the GOP is utterly unsalvageable
The Schlichters, the Kellys, the authors who write the AmGreatness stuff being passed around...they don't care if they destroy the whole thing, as long as they can play out their fantasies.
But we have a special thing, and we have a duty to pass it along to the next generation.
Fox, 7pm: send in the nukes
Fox, 8pm: putin has a lot of good points
Fox, 9pm: send in the nukes, but paint chinese flags on them
Fox, 10pm: won't someone please think of the oligarchs
Trump engaged in a multifaceted scheme which included sending a mob he knew was armed to storm the legislative branch in order to illegally seize control of the Executive Branch of the US government; he used the threat of violence and actual violence as part of his scheme.

@DouthatNYT
asserts that one can theoretically imagine subversions of elections that aren’t insurrection. Yes, and? There’s serious scholarship on the precise Q of whether *what Trump actually did* does/doesn't=insurrection. So what if you can invent alternatives that don’t? 7/
Mike Lee and Ted Cruz have got to be the two biggest hypocrites in terms of claiming to care about the rule of law and then being total partisan hacks in being willing to toss it out the window.
After Republicans tanked the border security bill, Tim Scott says he voted against a stand-alone bill for Israel/Ukraine aid because: We should first secure our southern border.
“Former President Donald Trump this month called Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and urged him to decertify President Joe Biden’s 2020 election win in that state, Vos said in a new interview Tuesday.”
@JennaEllisEsq
@realDonaldTrump
What is wrong with both of you? We're Americans and we're supposed to be on the same team against dictators who ruthlessly suppress people who oppose them.

Like not attending the White House Easter Egg hunt would be a departure from tradition. Turning the military against Americans seems like maybe a bit more than that.
The President wanted an announcement regarding an investigation into Joe Biden in order to address corruption in Ukraine because he was concerned that other countries weren't contributing their fair share to Ukraine.
What's so hard about this?
Sandy says, he, Duffey, and others wanted to know "the rationale" for Trump's hold on the aid. Nobody seemed to know.
Finally, in early September, before Sept 9, Duffey wrote an email saying it was because Trump was concerned other countries weren't contributing more to Ukraine
This was a good one (a lot of these episodes are great and provide for a lot more in-depth back and forth then you’ll see on cable news…highly recommend checking these out).
"We’re already at the doorstep of accountability...I think he’s going to be convicted in the D.C. court. And I think...the Justice Department is poised to have it go forward on a speedy basis because of the importance of it for the public to do so."
Essentially the choice for elected Republicans is kiss the ring or quit.
You’d think that would be a harder decision that it’s turned out to be for them.
I am good with dunking on LeBron for his China comments from before but it would be nice if like 99% of the people dunking on him had not been silent on this.
Look, I know we're desensitized, but the President is going after an American citizen on Twitter (which is a danger to him/her) because he's pissed that he/she played a role in convicting his longtime chief political strategist...who lied to protect him.
There has rarely been a juror so tainted as the forewoman in the Roger Stone case. Look at her background. She never revealed her hatred of “Trump” and Stone. She was totally biased, as is the judge. Roger wasn’t even working on my campaign. Miscarriage of justice. Sad to watch!
@AnnieGrayerCNN
@Jennanjack
Intercept reported that Ornato was supposed to finally sit down with the DHS IG at the end of August, and Intercept indicated that there was an indication that would proceed despite Ornato departing. Any indication whether that occurred?
It really bothers me that it doesn’t bother more Americans the way that Trump has gone after so many Americans who have dedicated their careers to our national security or the rule of law.
Looks like 20 House Rs will be taking part in the presser calling to impeach DHS Sec. Mayorkas this afternoon.
All 5 of members threatening to not support McCarthy are partaking and about half the list are Freedom Caucus members.
Hard to overstate how much of an impact the GOP's decision to "humor" Trump on the 2020 election locked it in to the result we are seeing in this primary.
Quite the CNN exit poll. The question was, "Do you think Biden legitimately won in 2020?"
AMONG TRUMP VOTERS
Yes: 17%
No: 80%
AMONG HALEY VOTERS
Yes: 83%
No: 15%
I encourage people to go watch this video to see all of his statements regarding the 1/6ers...the longer clip is worse than the shorter clips going around.
His followers are already hearing the message.
It would be wise of opponents to know the message he is promoting.
I have repeatedly condemned violence on both sides of the aisle. Unfortunately, this committee has gone well beyond the scope of the events of that day.
There are a whole lot of citizens in this country who aren't far Left or really Left at all, and don't want to be part of the absurdity that we're seeing out of the GOP. I'm not even talking about differences on policy at the moment. Righties ought to have something better.
