I'm not Muslim but it is thanks to studying Islam a bit more in recent days that I've curbed my drinking problem. I've switched from normal wine to 0.0% variety which I think is halal. And it's not actually that bad, cheaper too. It's a start. insha'Allah! 🙏

Over the last few days I've been happier, more at peace, less reactionary and I've battled one of my biggest struggles. All thanks to Islam, although granted it's only the very beginning and I still have a lot more to learn and a long way to go. 🙏

So I understand. The word "alcohol" is derived from the Arabic word for "spirit/demon" right? Spirits (vodka etc) were never my main problem though, just wine and strong beers. I know when I've been off my face I've said and done some incredibly stupid things! No more. 🙏

I haven't converted, I am just inspired by quite a few aspects of Islam. And in this instance because alcohol is strictly forbidden in Islam more than any other religion it was the kick up the backside I needed. But we will see what happens. No worries brother 👍

Here's another thing.The reason why Islam is spreading throughout the West is because they are a solid Umma praying, disciplined, raising families and running businesses while we are all busy being gay (including me) and wondering what pronouns to choose and what bathroom to use.

Up until a couple of months ago I was anti Islam and was branded "Far Right" etc and I did a bit of soul searching between then and now. There were a lot of factors. Too much to go into in a 140 limited character tweet. 👍

That's been my overall experience of Muslims so far as well. There will be assholes as well obviously, good and bad in every culture. But one thing I learned about Islam this week which I love is they're all one big family (Ummah). We're all scattered in the West.

I was born and raised a Christian and got into Christianity deeply between 2015 and 2018. I couldn't grasp the whole concept of Jesus being actual God in the flesh and only through him can you get into heaven. Plus constant threats of hellfire and damnation didn't help either!

This is ANOTHER reason why I found myself being drawn to Islam a bit more. In Christianity we worship Jesus as God in the flesh, all in one mish mash called the Holy Trinity. It never really made sense to me. In your believe system it seems a lot more structured.

I had a drinking problem and it got to the point where I wanted to quit. Id already cut down but at the same time over the last couple of months all sorts of stuff about Islam came to me and all the bad stuff we hear about it in the West so I did a bit of soul searching.

20 years ago when there were less black people in Ireland, there was Samantha Mumba the black Irish pop star. She faced horrible racism in her area (D3 or D5 can't remember which, but I used to work around there) but she went on to become a success. She was lovely 😍

Ive felt awkward about eating pork for a long time. I normally love pate but even chicken liver pate has pork in it so I didn't buy it yesterday when I went shopping. Also I heard pig meat is supposed to taste similar to human flesh! That in itself ought to be a turn off! 🙏
