Documenting the call for evidence-based design of safer streets after decades of @wandsworth inaction. Pro-evidence, not pro-LTN. From pedestrian @johnifreeman

@wandsworth doesn’t like clean air.
London has a toxic air crisis. If we're not careful, we’ll be moving from one public health crisis to another—only this time it will be caused by toxic emissions and gridlocked roads. Well-planned Low Traffic Neighbourhoods play a crucial role in cleaning up our air. Here’s how:

Price control by the state versus price control by @wandbc and @wandsworth - I think you are splitting hairs, councillor.
@humantravl That’s not a price control - it’s an asset held by the Council for which the Council needs to set a price. Price controls involve the state setting a maximum the price of certain goods generated by the market, leading to all sorts of supply issues and distortions.

Bikes can often be brought inside? Clearly this councillor isn’t aware how little storage space there is in Tooting and other areas that @wandsworth neglect.
@humantravl It’s a fair point. I’m not on the Strategic Planning and Transport OSC, which I know you follow closely, but can imagine one argument being that cars are the most obvious mode of private transport requiring street space for parking (vs eg bikes which often can be brought inside)

Incredible statement from an acting councillor.
Councillor @simon_brew who sat on Croydon council's Cycle Forum (shut down due to "no money") warns of dangers from segregated cycle lanes, "that cars, for example, can't veer into the cycle lane to avoid a crash, or a pedestrian in the road"
