Snubbing
@elonmusk
today leaves me thinking
@POTUS
EV plans are nothing more than more political theater -- all about political favors, not actually making any real progress
@patriottakes
This is essentially the same line of logic they use for school shootings--they are a fact of life, nothing can be done about them (and we'll fight anything that costs our donors money)
@JillFilipovic
Here's a crazy thought, but maybe Biden's viewing things through the lens of what he things is best for the country, not necessarily what is best for him.
I know this is an alien concept for some folks who cannot manage to see beyond themselves.
Took my wife for our first drive in the Model S Plaid tonight. She told me to punch it and I obliged....it scared the crap out of her--she said she felt her organs move, but then she giggled like a toddler for the next 20 minutes 🤣
@Twitter
No, you really don't--one of the things that made Twitter useful was it forced folks to be concise and thoughtful--that "more" button is an invitation to keep scrolling
Hey
@elonmusk
have 1K miles with yoke+stalkless under my belt and loving it--is/was there any thought to mapping gear shifting to the right thumbwheel when the car is not moving (same scenarios as when the screen shifter pops up)?
@JRubinBlogger
$10 says this is the plan:
1) Get Trump elected at all costs
2) Wait about a couple of months after the inauguration
3) Hit him with 25th amendment
4) Thiel & Co install their boy as president
One of the things that I like about the Model S Plaid is that it feels like the purest expression of
@Tesla
-- a distillation of what they are about and the best of what they can do
@kelseyhightower
@jessfraz
My wife has a rule that I can install "smart home" stuff, but everything must have a physical, non-smart option for control. Keeps the peace. :)
@JillFilipovic
From my corner of the world, I am not seeing the base abandoning him, quite the opposite, I think this last week and its internet unfairness has locked them. As for the polls, I'll worry when
@madrid_mike
says it's time to worry. :)
@sandofsky
@gwestr
Every DC has a server like that, sitting in a back corner and no one is quite sure what it does. Typically, folks are too scared to unplug it, tho :)
@JRubinBlogger
🎯
A couple of observations:
1) It continues to expose how completely useless a good chunk of DC political press and punditry really is
2) Some folks have no clue how the democratic base works (hint: its *very* different than the republican base)
@RadioFreeTom
Well....
- the overall trend line looks good
- The state level looks good, there is work to do in PA and NV
- The bottom did not fall out as the media has predicted
No one is declaring victory, there is much work to to in the next 120 days, wish we could get back to it
Why is EV "journalism" so shitty? You need 136K gas stations because that's the only way you can fuel your gas car. Most EV owners fuel-up every night, at home, and start the day with a full tank. If you're gonna count 136K gas stations, count every house with electricity🙄

Why
@Tesla
Is Different: Leaders of Owners Clubs from all over the globe are meeting in Fremont for next couple of days on their own dime to see how clubs can better work with the company. /cc

You know
@TwitterDev
no one is actually buying this 🐂💩 -- killing off decent clients like
@tweetbot
is going to lead me to spend less time here not move to your client
This sad spectacle is why the work of
@AuschwitzMuseum
is so important. If you are not already, please follow them. If we forget our history, we will repeat it.
Someone had an idea... Someone placed the cups... People raised their hands... Someone took the picture & shared with with the world.
Someone should ask: how come? Why those young people decided to use those symbols of hatred? Someone should think how dangerous this is.
I gotta give
@28delayslater
credit this morning. I takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, to confront your heroes and your community (especially this community). Earl, we need more like ya in this crazy world.
Over the last 8 yrs I have met many Tesla folks up and down the org chart, and they have been smart, passionate, and intent on making the world a better place and the car just feels like the best of them, poured into a product
For all the folks that recently followed me because of the Plaid thing, thank you. There will be lots of EV and Tesla talk, but also dogs, Bourbon and Rye, BBQ, politics and general weirdness--I felt I should warn you. :) Happy Monday.
@ask_aubry
I am not sure how "I'm not a rapist" is viewed as some sort of praise-worthy accomplishment.
My dudes, if you want to do this right, let me lay out 3 easy steps:
1) Don't be a rapist
2) Make sure your friends and co-workers are not rapists
3) Raise boys that are not rapists
@LarAtLarian
I am not sure about that last part, but I totally get this move for Larian--you've created a timeless masterpiece--it does not need a "next". I look forward to playing whatever you have in store.

“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.” - Cecil Beaton.
Charlotte, as always, nails it.
"I don’t give a damn what political media says, particularly since their alleged craving for competency seems to largely fail in holding Donald Trump accountable on his pervasive litany of illegal and immoral failings."
It Doesn't Matter That I Like Joe Biden
It was June of 2019, and I had no intention of supporting former vice president Joe Biden in the primary for the Democratic nomination. It wasn’t personal. Honestly, I wasn’t even considering him enough for it to be personal.
Despite the
A couple of quick videos--first is AutoShift--as I said, the clear UI won me over. I should add, if you don't want to use AutoShift (i.e. you need to pull you car up a bit) you can manually shift without needing to belt in--the shifter is on screen
So 20 years ago I started at
@Cisco
— I know, weird! Sure there have been rough times, but I love this place. It’s given me the oppty to work with some amazing folks, have a hand in shaping the industry and make some great friends inside and outside the company.

@danahull
Our Tesla Owners Club has been piloting a formal program for a while. Its not about free work or replacing Tesla employees. For first time EV-owners, connecting new owners with seasoned owners is really helpful. Most of us are simply paying it forward.
Let's be real, regardless of who win the Speaker race, if anything useful happens, it will be purely by accident. We'll have 2 years of endless investigations and performative votes.
@JonahDispatch
"Invited" doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. Social conservative needed someone new to "other" and trans kids were next on the list. Stop trying to paint the victimizers as hapless victims, you are usually better than that.
@cbouzy
I think its deeper than that--we lived through "but her emails" and gave the media a mulligan, but they are doing the exact same thing again. There is not going to be forgiveness this time around--some folks are in for a rude awakening.
@JRubinBlogger
This report from Kevin O'Conner (Biden's physician) was posted back at the end of February -- seems pretty comprehensive, not sure what else folks would need
@drvolts
IMO one of the biggest comms mis-steps of the movement is using "xC temp rise" -- it's a measure only meaningful to climate scientists. The general public hears it as "it'll be in the upper 70s instead of the mid 70s next week" and kinda shrugs
@LelandMinot
@RadioFreeTom
Yeah, in the last few years, I don't think posters have really figured out how to reach an accurate and representative slice of the electorate--hence undercounting Trump support, but I think this year, they're also undercounting Biden support from pissed off women.
I like
@brandonee916
videos--I think the commentary is balanced and I know the roads he's driving, so it helps me understand how FSD is doing--based on this, it seems to be doing well.
Second video: my continued yoke adventures. Less than 72 hrs and things are looking better--breaking old habits, building new muscle memory. Still a work in progress, tho 🤣

Sigh.
Electrek article refers to 63 Kg of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3)--a little molar math says Li is 18.7% of a molecule or 11.8 Kg.
Back of envelope: BatteryU says a 2Ah 18650 has 0.6 g Li so a ~3.25Ah 18650 has ~0.975g Li so the 7,920 cells in a Plaid pack have ~7.7Kg Li
Tesla's Safety Score is fun (and I can imagine its only a matter of time before folks try to see how low they can get their score) but it seems backward to use it to qualify for FSD Beta, since we're not doing the driving. 1/2
@davidfrum
You usually don't sugar-coat like this: "politically unfeasible" --> republicans willingly prioritize those sweet, sweet gun lobby dollars over the lives of children (who have never contributed a dime)
@Fritschner
It is breathtaking the number of folks selling their souls for clicks right now. Voters are pissed and are going to remember this. There is not going to be an oopsie, my bad.
Love little “product moments” like this: off to pick-up son from the airport. Car had pulled the appointment info from my phone and had the destination already loaded into nav by the time I had the door open. Nice work
@elonmusk
I get TwitBoss felt his family's safety was put in jeopardy, and I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone but, but let's also acknowledge that the safety of folks, especially marginalized ones, is put at risk via this site on a daily basis--there are accounts dedicated to it
@FPWellman
I do think they will pay a price. In past elections cycles, folks have been frustrated that punditry seemed so clueless and hoped they'd get better. This cycle, it's clear this is purposeful and folks are pissed.
Hey
@faizsays
- curious post in
@washingtonpost
. You open with the 1st paragraph, where you neglect to mention the warning was specific to recalled cars, then wait 15 paragraphs to note the fire risk for EVs is no higher than other cars.
@theteslahoe
Don't see anything in the
@Rivian
warranty that says that. Perhaps the closest is using a non-spec tire size that causes some issue, but, in the US the burden is on Rivian to show it was the problem and it still does not void the whole warranty.
