NEW from me and
@SergioChapa
in Houston: our deep dive on Elon Musk's Growing Texas Empire. The Austin factory is 23% bigger than the Pentagon, SpaceX is buying up land in Boca Chica and Ad Astra--his private school--is now registered in Texas.
TWITTER not mincing words: "Musk apparently believes that he— unlike every other party subject to Delaware contract law — is free to change his mind, trash the company, disrupt its operations, destroy stockholder value, and walk away."
Check out this Giga Texas 360 degree fly over of the main factory building! This gives a different perspective of the progress as of 12 Nov 2021!

Remember when
@ElonMusk
got tired of questions from Wall Street analysts and said "Let's go to YouTube" and
@Gfilche
asked questions for 20 minutes on the earnings call? That was a big moment in the Rise of the Retail Investor
Good morning. The
#CampFire
is still burning, 63 people are dead, *600* are missing, the parking lot of the Chico Walmart is a defacto refuge camp and untold # of unsheltered people have no escape from worsening air quality conditions. This is legit public health crisis
Update: My dad died of an apparent heart attack Sunday. He was 78, a Vietnam vet, had been a pilot in the Air Force. I last spoke to him on Father's Day. I will forever kick myself, and this g-damned virus/response, for not getting back East to visit sooner. Call your people 😢😡
I was supposed to visit my Dad, who lives in Pennsylvania, during spring break--a big trip that we obv cancelled. Now not sure when I can ever see him? Don't want to fly, feels crazy to drive across country unless I had a camper van...ugh.
the Tesla Solar Roof + Powerwall install in my neighborhood is done. Would love to know total number of labor hours/cost as it seemed like an 8 person crew most days
"Tesla has done extraordinary things for electric vehicles and that's a big part of why the whole industry now knows EVS are the future," WH spox Emilie Simons said in a statement. Behind the scenes on the Musk/Biden chill with ace

:
Product launches are usually scripted and rehearsed. The fact that the glass--which was the
#2
feature they were demoing--shattered not once but twice was a surprise to everyone. The CEO said "Oh my f----ing god," when the windows broke. One for the ages.
If you're just waking up, a lot of Tesla news today:
*Hertz deal for 100,000 cars 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
*Tesla shares on tear, 1 trillion market cap
*Elon's wealth 📈
*NTSB chair sends letter to Elon
Elon Musk has broken all of the norms of what it means to be the CEO of a publicly traded company, so it's hard for many people to understand. I see this as strategic more than a meltdown, though obviously the stress is real.
1/NEW: in a filing,
@SpaceX
says: "Starlink’s performance is not theoretical or experimental. Over 10,000 users in the United States and abroad are using the service today."
Lies I Tell Myself Every Time:
1: I will work out in the hotel gym
2. I will swim in the hotel pool
3. I will knock out a bunch of work on the plane
4. I won't be frantically packing at the last minute
Elon Musk has finished speaking at the WSJ conference and "I don't think dropping acid makes you age less" may be the best quote out of it. Also, the 12/9 numerologists should calm down
I hung around outside the Fremont delivery hub on Saturday and talked to owners and volunteers. This sentiment--"I never want to drive a gas car again"-- seems to be fairly widespread.
Got our Model 3 Performance today. OMFG, it's AWESOME! I never want to drive a gas car again. Put my foot to the floor and was instantly giddy like a school girl ;) Thanks

Hi, Tim. Based on my conversations with Musk, I mistakenly thought the policy to not allow Starlink to be used for an attack on Crimea had been first decided on the night of the Ukrainian attempted sneak attack that night. He now says that the policy had been implemented

“When a lot of consumers think electric vehicle, they think of Tesla, and now if they want to rent one, they’ll think of Hertz,” said David Whiston, automotive analyst for Morningstar Inc. in Chicago. w/
@KeithNaughton
The sheer amount of Tesla related content now being produced, from YouTube channels to podcasts, and from people with wildly divergent view points, is mind boggling
In January 2010, the Department of Energy issued a $465 million Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) loan to Tesla, which the company paid off in full years early.
With the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re going to build electric vehicles—and the batteries and parts that go in them—in the United States, instead of relying on other countries.
The future will be made in America.
I got vaxxed with J&J in April, as soon as I was eligible. I got my 1, half-dose “booster” shot of Moderna in October. Am I “fully” vaxxed and boosted? or just 1 shot into what should be a 3 dose mRNA regimen? There is zero guidance right now. 13 million American got J&J
Electric vehicles are the future.
With my Build Back Better Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we're going to create jobs, boost manufacturing here in the U.S., and create consumer rebates for folks to buy American-made, union-made electric vehicles.
@Quintosol1924
yes, remember when the pandemic hit we actually had N95 masks to give to nurses and doctors. Glad I hung onto a few for this very reason---but am livid that, to my knowledge, US does not have domestic N95 production up and running yet
"TSLA is not just pulling customers from BMW and Mercedes but also from Toyota and Honda. Like a magic trick, while everyone is focused on Elon smoking weed, he is quietly smoking the whole automotive industry."
Elon Musk was more directly involved in the infamous 2016 "Full Self-Driving Hardware" demo video than previously known, and even wrote the 'disclaimer' that shows up at the beginning, per internal emails we obtained. scoop w/
@sokane1
“Elon is a brilliant man,” Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s president and chief operating officer, said Tuesday after speaking at a satellite industry conference in Paris. “He is as lucid and capable as he has ever been. I wish people would not focus on triviality.”
