I was in the hospital a while ago and while my Dr was in the room talking to me about the next steps, a nurse came in and started doing some sort of test. The Dr had not ordered the test and demanded to know what she was doing.
I'm curious about the motives of such whistleblowers
I imagine partly it's probably personal--can you imagine dealing with this kind of administrator?--and partly principled ofc
but i have to imagine the possibility of practical public political support matters an awful lot

All this to say, if I was a worker in that hospital, watching this happen over and over, watching patients suffer for no reason, I hope I would be brave enough to step forward and call attention to it. I can't even imagine how many people have died as a result of this crap.

As I lay there, listening to the Pakistani Dr argue with the Chinese nurse, both attempting English but neither having much skill at it, neither one knowing what was going on or why, I became very certain I was going to die. It was the most surreal experience I have ever had.

The nurse pointed to my chart on the computer in the room and insisted she was doing what she was supposed to. The Dr kept demanding to know who had ordered the test. The nurse kept insisting it was on the chart. Neither one of these people spoke English as their first language.

I wasn't even that sick anymore at that point. But I lost any confidence I'd previously had that any given injection or test would be helpful or at least not kill me. I was there for maybe 4 more days and there were several more incorrect tests done.

I had a friend who basically did this. She wasn't assaulted, but her crazy parents had made her so scared of men that the absolute last thing she wanted was to be a woman, which to her just meant "victim." She didn't want to be a man either. Because that meant rapist.

I was in the woods with a group and a bear made itself known and I, and the other girls, were very, very glad the men were present. Nobody got eaten, nobody got raped, we all made it home safely, including the bear.
I cannot understand those women at all.

I have no idea, I couldn't understand either one of them. A lot of it seemed to be the Dr trying to direct the nurse to which buttons to click to check the name on the file, but the nurse kept clicking in the wrong place and muttering like the maid in family guy.

It's used to help teach very young kids to articulate their feelings instead of just reacting physically. "Use your words" rather than just screaming or hitting another kid. Insane to say it to an adult.
