@IsabelOakeshott
It’s staggering you can complain about this when you’ve both enabled and been a cheer leader for this decline. Policy decisions led us here, driven by ideology, greed and petty party politics.
@hugh_jolley
@ChrisGPackham
We’re the 5th biggest cumulative emitter, we run at 2% a year (incl imports). Add together all countries under 2% & you have a block bigger than any other, so if we all don’t act, its game over. We also finance & insure more fossil fuels than just about any county…
It’s so uplifting to see a climate scientist (who’s also a great communicator!) appear on the 10 o’clock news.
Well done
@BBCNews
But, we’re going to need a lot more!
Inspiring to see so many businesses represented at today’s Queue for Climate and Nature.
Protest should not be confined to activists and those involved in direct action, the business community now needs to play its part. (A nice ESG policy is simply not enough)

Big Oil has lied, has held back, and in many cases, halted climate action.
It’s time they paid the consequences…

California is suing Big Oil for lying about climate change.
We're taking five major oil companies to court for wreaking havoc on our planet and lying to people about the dangers of fossil fuels.
It’s time they pay their fair share.
This all began with a decision that I could not sit and watch us fail to react to the climate crisis, plus bafflement that so many people seemed unaware of the climate science. Huge thanks to everyone who got on board with this idea!
@RishiSunak
I think you know this does nothing of the sort. Also, if you want to talk homegrown energy, why has one of the windiest countries in Europe still got a ban on onshore wind?
I owe

A little addendum to all the 'but China' lost souls. China is adding more renewable energy capacity than the EU, the US and India combined....

We've been pressing them to put a climate scientist on the panel (as it's COP!) but I wasn't expecting this! Very pleased for you and can't wait....

'Just Stop Oil' activists protested across London this weekend to demand an end to the fossil fuel economy. Meanwhile, the cost of living crisis means many people are paying more & more for fuel. Are oil protests justified?
@AlokSharma_RDG
Your party sadly banned onshore wind in 2016, which cost us dearly in carbon emissions and increased our exposure to the energy crisis. However, if you can turn that around we all benefit, especially if you support the

Sympathies to all the hard working climate deniers who oddly ignore the most wealthy & powerful industry on the planet (that has the most to loose & is on record lying to us) & decide the environmentalists & scientists are ALL conspiring because of… something 🤔

Please stop equating ‘overnight’ with expanding NEW fossil fuels.
No one is asking for an overnight transition.
They (you know the list by now) have set a clear red line. New fossil fuels means no chance of a sustainable future.

Carbon dioxide is giving Earth a jolt!
Did you know there’s about 400 parts per million (ppm) of caffeine in coffee? There's over 400 ppm of CO₂ in our atmosphere today. If you've felt the surge of caffeine hitting your system, you've experienced the effects of just 400 ppm.

Providing insurance for new fossil fuel projects is morally & economically unjustifiable. It’s goes against ALL scientific advice, ignores the facts we should be winding down FF not expanding, has a damaging global influence & is a foolish financial risk!
@Ed_Miliband
Agreed. But mortified at

@gerainted
@hugh_jolley
@ChrisGPackham
It’s correct, but it’s referring to annual
emissions not cumulative. The other thing to remember is China’s emissions per head are way way lower than ours & the bulk of their emissions come from manufacturing our products…
@KevinClimate
@GlobalEcoGuy
The 50% cut in emissions headline becomes the retained fact. So few realise that’s not the whole picture (that our true carbon footprint is way bigger) this helps maintain the narrative that we are on track. If we allow this, WE WILL FAIL

Al Gore once cited a researcher who suggested this scenario but it’s untrue to suggest that was the consensus. Overall the climate models have unfortunately been quite accurate over the years. It’s easy to read up on this, here’s an example

Yes that fuel is more sustainable - but the savings include offsets, which is a bit like cheating as we have to plant those trees anyway. It’s also still WAY more carbon intensive than the train & maintains the idea we can continue airport expansion - which we can’t & you know it
