The Munger book website we did @stripepress won @awwwards so my Delusion of Grandeur of the Day is that book websites are the new movie websites and since none of the cool old books have cool old websites, there is much work to be done. 📚.

1. This is a the coolest animation promoting a blog post I have ever seen. 2. The interactive graphics are a joy even (especially?) if you struggled to learn to draw curves in Illustrator/Figma. 3. I hope this is the first of many articles by @ekwonye as he learns new things ❤️.

My son (11) asked what the board of a company did and I admitted I knew little beyond hiring/firing the CEO. But I called both a hypothetical CEO and Chair “he.” My son corrected me both times, with disappointment in his eyes and tone. My son is now the Chairperson of our family.

My son got a hearing aid when he was 3. We called it his "droid ear." I worried it would stigmatize him and make it hard for him to feel accepted. Tuesday he had surgery to repair it. That morning his biggest worry was losing the thing that makes him interesting.

In 1994 I was 16yo and loaded CorelDraw on my dad’s computer. He didn’t know how to use it. I drew pot leaves. Friday night my 16yo son loaded Unity on his computer. He made a 3d game written in C#. I don’t know Unity or C#. Progress too happens gradually, then suddenly.

Web design hasn’t been my job for a little while now but I’ve been designing stuff out in the elements. Nature imposes itself on the work and you can either try to design around that or embrace it. Coming back to web design now and hoping to bring some imperfection back with me.

Design Engs @ekwonye + @nettymaza built the page in a couple weeks w/ no design system. Carousels, animations, countdown are all one-offs. Everything but the CMS, routing & animation framework were custom. I joined just before launch to focus on the wave (& @yocline’s 🐶GPU).

Code brought the wave to life so we scrapped video. @yocline+@_luptak took to Slack w/ ideas to 💯 the experience. In the final week, @nettymaza+@ekwonye 💅 each component & @Kim_____B+ I overhauled the wave textures, iterated on motion, scrolling & animated title dissolve.
