This is in essence is the difference between LayerZero and Hyperlane. One views the building of the message layer (and Ethereum!) as permissioned, and one that correctly recognizes that's it has to be permissionless like crypto itself. As an app builder, i know what I'd choose.

This is what an open interop framework looks like. @stride_zone saw the opportunity in leveraging @hyperlane for permissionless interop to build a compelling product providing value. We didn't know about until it was announced by @StargazeZone. What more could you want as an open.
3/6 But perhaps the most exciting thing is the automatic yield. Utilizing Stride's @Hyperlane deployment, all Cosmos tokens on Astra will be automatically liquid staked on the backend. But on the frontend, they will appear as normal Cosmos tokens.

Interop is better with great frens! @hyperlane was built to be complimentary to efforts like Superchain's native interop. They give battle-tested/consistent tooling to app devs like @VelodromeFi with seamless upgrade into native interop trust assumptions when available.

Missed this, but just shows how many footguns there are in interop. Incorrect docs, but also insufficient interop tooling led to a situation that required recovery of assets. However, we can't at the same time just leave interop to a systemically small number of "experts".
On 1st of Aug 4,880 ETH was manually removed from @modenetwork ETH bridge by the bridge owner. It was part of a "rescue" operation for funds stuck on L2, but it does raise some important questions 🧵.

I agree for once with @0xLamps that asset issuers should own the multichain issuance. Intents are useful for assets where that's not possible (ETH) or cost/speed optimizations. Obviously there are tradeoffs like always, but saying there are no alternatives to OFTs . .
This is an uncommon bad take from Arjun IMO. Intents do not solve the problem of multichain token issuance. At all. Let's take the example of BitGo, who yesterday launched their $8.5B $WBTC asset as an OFT on BNB Chain and Avalanche. They want to hold 1/3 of their $1B

Underrated feature of @Hyperlane_xyz is to bring chain innovations to the rest of the blockchain universe.
Using @Hyperlane_xyz on our project was very crucial for our project because we needed Chainlink VRF and Worldcoin. But, Zora does not have these contracts yet. So, we deployed Hyperlane to Zora thanks to permissionless interoperability and communicated with Goerli to use these.

The layer zero "ultra light node" apparently just accepts whatever number of confirmations is claimed by the oracle lmao. "Mr. Oracle, you claim your block has a quintillion confirmations, can I verify this?". "Just trust me bro"

@donnoh_eth @soneium I can't find the post, but IIRC @_prestwich had a good primer on why L1 forced TX are limited, because the sequencer can sandwich your DEX trades and effectively censor you. Obviously here, the sequencer wasn't doing it, but it doesn't seem that hard to add more censorship.

For almost a year, we had to explain why we didn't have first-party token bridge on @Hyperlane_xyz. Fundamentally, synthetic assets on the remote are tied to the underlying security of the collateral, so a modular thesis requires a modular answer for token bridging!.

Appreciate @ChainLinkGod ' educating and clarifying implications of OFTs. My 2c is that "lock-in" is a spectrum and L0 would have a better argument if their DVNs and relayers were actually used in a L0 Labs independent manner, when in reality it's not.
This is a common misconception about @Chainlink CCIP-enabled tokens vs @LayerZero_Core OFTs. LayerZero OFTs impose vendor lock-in on token issuers as it embeds 3rd party code into their token contracts that is specific to the LayerZero ecosystem (OFT.sol). This locks token.

The fact that this was only caught now tells you everything you need to know about rollup bridges. They are too hard to use, and thus too easy to outsource to more accessible, but too trusted interop protocols.
On 1st of Aug 4,880 ETH was manually removed from @modenetwork ETH bridge by the bridge owner. It was part of a "rescue" operation for funds stuck on L2, but it does raise some important questions 🧵.

I have a bunch of alt-VM tokens that are PITA to handle since state of the art custody is still on Ethereum. Unironically think that @hyperlane's ICAs (aka AMB secured proxy wallets) are the answer. If you are interested in building this, please DM me.

This attack shows that tx decoding can be a double-edged sword by creating a false sense of safety. Address identity and reputation is a much under-explored solution space and would have been the better protection mechanism.
The @0xhabitat Multisig was drained yesterday. Our analysis shows that this was a targeted attack. We see no indications of any issues affecting the Gnosis Safe contracts or official interfaces.

A framework is shared abstractions and tooling by likeminded developers, and the proof is in the (Github) pudding. The most external contributions for implementations and ISMs make @hyperlane / Warp Tokens the most credible framework.

no-yolo-signatures can import trusted lists which annotate addresses included in the decoded function call like in the first tweet. is a small @WalletConnect proxy to demo the library, definitely not prod ready tho! Here is a screencap end to end.

Funnily enough though, ISMs in its original form predated what we now call modular verification, was focused around application-level constraints (which is what @zmanian referencing not being in IBC).

The biggest app in crypto jumping on the Rollup train does put the lack of a centrally planned fragmentation solution front and center. Superchain obviously gets to run a victory lap today but it seems very difficult to see consolidation anytime soon.
What's the long-term solution/vision to ethereum L2 liquidity fragmentation?.
