@Rothmus During WWII the US built ships to mix concrete for building runways in the Pacific theater. It turns out they had one more than they needed so the navy converted one to mix ice cream instead. When the Japanese learned that the US had the industrial capacity to provide ice cream.

@LibertyAnders Women are moving left for the same reason they’ve been moving left since the 60s. The state is their infallible provider that requires zero commitment, zero vulnerability, and zero intimacy. That’s an alluring message to a lot of women who live with relatively little material.

@SpiritofPines I don’t think that the lack of knowledge is the problem, but rather being so eager to heap criticism on a person or group that you dion’t think to stop and ask questions.

@SpaceCowboyGFY @GabePri30867940 @ZebraRisk @Paratus2014 It’s just fascinating me that this person gave the benefit of doubt to the guy who threw the first punch. I don’t know what, if anything, the shooter contributed to the situation but I don’t know how you watch this video and sympathize totally with the big guy.

@wanyeburkett Bars are for bartenders. Unless you’re planning on staying behind it, or hire someone to stay behind it, there are way better ways to do this.

@TechExecCrystal The best part is that if you’re right nobody will take the job, and if you’re wrong he’ll find somebody to take the job. I love markets.

@cmuratori Using a MacBook Pro at a non-native resolution has a significant performance penalty. It’s probably better than Linux but it’s still a problem that Apple hasn’t solved either.

@jeremykauffman @CptAncapistan Because demand for carpentry services can more readily fall than demand for food in a market where individual purchasing power is falling.

@SpaceDoggosNFT @InternetH0F Wrong punishment. The kid should have received a beat down for the sucker punch. He might think again the next time he has the impulse to sucker punch someone. Now all he got is the loss of the only outlet for his normal youthful aggression he has. That aggression will just come.

@ID_AA_Carmack I think I remember John Romero remarking to a magazine years ago that your curiosity is one of the best things to ever happen in computing. Bringing it to bear on rockets seems to carry far more risk.

@cmuratori Devices have one or more native resolutions that they report to the OS. In the display preferences on macOS you can choose to scale the display but choosing a scale that isn’t native to the device impacts system performance.

@paulogia0 Aren’t you just approaching this under the presumption that god doesn’t exist and is merely a pretext lending authority to these particular arbitrary (in your mind) rules?. If you were to believe that god is real would such a being be entirely within his authority to define.

@anonynaut It’s based on customer feedback, not manufacturer guidance. In fact, that text might not be generated on their systems at all. Some clothing retailers use a cross-platform sizing guide that collects this data and recommends sizes based on how clothes from different manufacturers.
