@Greenfleeves Strange. My mother-in-law in her nineties with dementia, living on her own, was well enough to be discharged from a NHS hospital just a few days after treatment. The hospital thought she’d be ok so we had to get a social worker to explain to them that she wouldn’t.

@JaneyGodley I may be wrong - I think the wrappings have been changed as the shiny wrappers aren’t recyclable, whereas the matt wrappers are. I’m sure if they’d known the effect this would have had on Ms Angry’s Christmas they would never have tried to contribute to saving the planet.

@MichaelRosenYes Many years ago an ofsted inspector wanted to see my Y3 class in a swimming lesson. The swimming instructor insisted the inspector remove his shoes and socks. Result - very important man in suit, tie and rolled up trousers. I wanted to hand him a knotted hanky for his head 😆

@garethkthomas At my grandkids’ large state primary (600+ on roll) doors are open 8.35 -8.45, staff member greeting them at each door, no lining up, kids walk in with their friends, chatting in normal voices. That’s seems how it should be to me. Why can’t that work at other schools?

@Missymusician81 Such a shame. Everyone expected to excel at everything at 16 or lose the chance to continue what you’re good at. Similar situation in EY. Children expected to read, know phonics by age 5/6 or else are ‘behind’. Also Y6 expected to know more grammar than any adult.

@jemmaforte I’m a grandparent. I think our kids have been through enough: pandemic where they missed school and friends, crumbling schools, Brexit impacting their travel and work abroad, massive debt if they want to study, no chance of renting/buying a home, no mental health services etc.

@LBC @NickFerrariLBC He says he got angry. I think, considering his anger, Ben Elton was very civil and calm in his response to the Sunak interview. He was asked what he thought about it and he told them honestly, succinctly and eloquently. No swearing, no shouting. Just the truth. Good on him..

@BarbaraBleiman My 5 y.o grandson gets a decodable book with a few words in each week from school. He reads it as quickly as he can so that he can get on with reading more challenging, more interesting and more enjoyable books he chooses from the library or that his parents and I buy for him.

@Haggis_UK I live in a multicultural city. Whenever I’ve been to the hospital (and I was there a lot for chemo and radiotherapy) I’ve never had a problem with people not speaking English. He’s making it up. Blaming immigrants for the shortcomings of the NHS is so wrong; they’re saving it.

@GillianKeegan You’re wrong: Parents can already ask for any info about what is being taught, or find it on school website. It’s there. Schools aren’t hiding anything. Teachers aren’t there to just teach facts. How would that would prepare them for life? They teach them to think and question.
