It feels slightly surreal- I've been shortlisted for a Forward Prize! An honour to be part of this group of poets. Huge, heartfelt thank yous to the judges and to Tom Bailey and Laurie Ogden of

Delighted to have won the Poetry Society's 2022 Stanza competition. Big thank you to the judge

Over the moon to have won the Hammond House International Literary Prize 2023 🤯
Big thank you to the judges and to
@deborahfinding
for bringing me such excellent news tonight!
why do I want to post every Kim Addonizio poem I read? Because I love her and she writes like this: 'the useless ache/ that comes from loving, too well,/ those who, under the guise of pleasure,/ destroy everything they touch.' ❤️🔥
@pswordwoman
just to add an example of the opposite: one of the loveliest poets I've seen read (in recordings as I live in Greece) is Kaveh Akbar. He usually adds other people's poems into his sets- emerging poets and poets who have passed away- and reads under his allotted time. ❤️
It's my birthday and I'm reminding myself today that what really matters in a life well lived is the small, selfless acts of love and kindness that we do spontaneously, the effect they have on others, and the ripples they cause to make the world a slightly more loving place 🩷
So thrilled Bloodwork is shortlisted for the Magma pamphlet prize. I was diagnosed with early ovarian failure at 30 as my mother was dying of ovarian cancer. I wrote a long poem about it this year which became the heart of this pamphlet. Big thank you

I've almost quit poetry tens of times thinking I'm useless, but just counted the poems published in journals since I started poetry on and off in 2015 and it's 99, plus ones in pamphlets. Excited to see where the hundredth will go! Maybe then even try an entire collection? 😬
this looks stunning and I can't believe I have a poem in this issue with some of my favourite poets. I've loved Poetry London for years and this is a dream come true 🙏. Thank you
@anaffissahely
Loving PL's new look & here is
@Idharker
gracing the cover of our Spring issue! She has seven poems in the issue, where she tells the story of how a 'Shadow Reader' once predicted her death in 2022, and her experience of living with that prediction. Also in the issue 👇👇
Jay Bernard has chosen Jemilea Wisdom-Baako’s ‘Grey Coats + Nokia Phones’ as the winner of the inaugural PL Pamphlet Prize! Jemilea’s pamphlet will be published by PL Editions in March & launched at our Spring Readings at

very tough day with my uncle who is terminally ill in a nursing home. I read him his favourite poem, Kavafi's 'Ithaca' again and again, and though he could not speak it was the only time he stopped groaning. Today don't forget to tell your people how much you love them.
here is my poem from The Rialto, drafted in an Arvon course with the wonderful
@r_vallen
and
@RebTamas
and an equally amazing group of poets. Miss this class. Thank you🙏🙏💚💚
I thought we were over the worst, but after extensive tests yesterday, my beloved cat Schmoo has been diagnosed with liver disease, colitis, allergies and high blood sugar levels. He is only 6 years old. Please send good thoughts if you can.
I don't normally post my own poems 😬 but feeling the ghost of the eating disorder moving through me so keenly on this dreary, wet and empty day. If you feel it too 🖤 (this recently published in Anthropocene)
excited to have a poem in issue 100 of

'The hostel was next to the cemetery, / its garden rotten with aftershave / where he trawled through / the foreign girls. / Bois de Boulogne was in season, / iron-red, billowing.'

Love the epiphany in this Jane Hirshfield poem 💙
'And wonder how, bound to each other as we are
in a net of blue and gold
we fail so often, in such ordinary ways.'
my
@AGNIMagazine
contributor's copies have arrived and I am pinching myself seeing my poem between the same covers as some real poetry heroes including Robert Pinsky, Victoria Chang and D. Nurske. Please do not wake me up!
Van Gogh shot himself in the chest in a field, walked out of the field and was brought to the clinic where he smoked his pipe and died two days later. I read his letters very slowly over several months, finishing on the 31st. I miss him.
I've been pushing myself to overcome my anxiety and say yes to readings. Having found a quiet corner with stable connection in my shared home I did a masked reading last night with the amazing Joseph Fasano to a wonderful, generous audience. It was such a joy. Thank you Penny❤️
Thank you to the wonderful
@WasafiriMag
for publishing this poem. A joy to be able to share it with you: 🌺
My mother tells her sister you have your husband and I have my flowers by Vasiliki Albedo
I’m gutted that I’ve had to cancel my trip to Durham to read at the Forwards because of a lupus-related acute kidney condition. It would have been my first live reading and I was looking forward to meeting friends and fellow nominees (1/2)
