Why is it that Londoners who just want to get on with their daily lives have to put up with these baying mobs on the streets, museums, stations...? London is not their private, exclusive domain.

The worst thing that could happen to GOP is that Trump becomes some sort of a shadow president for the party. For GOP to survive, senior Republicans must make a clear break with the Trump administration.
@antisemitism
The way I see it is that the police is “protecting” London Jews by asking them to go into hiding while allowing zealots baying for blood to roam the streets in the name of freedom of speech.
@ShirionOrg
This is no longer a demonstration or a protest, but a revolt against civil authority and the rule of law that governs the conduct of people in our Western democracy.
@RachelRileyRR
Labeling anyone who does not agree with the left’s narrative as far-right is a powerplay. It is designed discredit divergent views regardless where they may stand on the traditional political spectrum. This is inspired by Foucauldian deconstructivist philosophy and CT.

You seem to be so blinded by hate that you didn’t even read the Sunday NYT article properly, or perhaps you couldn’t understand it.

I have attended services in the UK for over 30 years, and we have always had security. What other religious community has to live under constant threat and hostility so that it's 'normal' for us to walk through a security corridor on our way to prayer?
@DawnNeesom
It’s absolutely horrible. As a former naval officer, I wouldn’t have set a foot aboard on what appears to be an experimental vessel. I suspect the passengers didn’t fully appreciate the risks and certainly didn’t understand what a fierce force the ocean is.
@SDPhq
I agree with your comment. Antisemitism is society’s canary in the coal mine. Whenever it rears its ugly head it is an indication that the society and civil order has already broken down.

We are one step away from this hate spilling into pogroms on our streets. Having watched several of videos of this kind, one can see how drunk in the sense of collective power these people are. It can only take one spark to trigger the mob off.

When I served in Finnish navy as a young man, having even a corner of the flag to slightly touch the ground was reprimanded. The same in the civilian use of the flag. The way national flag is treated tells one a lot about the values of the country.

I’m not sure which makes me more sick, seeing

terrorists parading for cameras, or some of the comments to this post glorifying their actions.

The university senates should fire all three with immediate effect. If I, as an academic, were to make a comment in my lecture that racism is CONTEXT SPECIFIC, my feet would not touch the ground as I would be escorted out of the building.

People like this have always been among us. That’s why my late father changed his last name as a young man and hid his Jewish identity until the very end of his life. And so have I, until this war when I realized that I have nothing to be ashamed of.

What armchair warriors who haven't been trained for or experienced combat don't understand is that soldiers on the ground are constantly faced with slipt second moral decisions, especially in urban warfare. They deserve their voices to be heard above and beyond the din of war.

Just wondering how many thugs are using the propal protests and the masking we have seen as a convenient cover for antisocial behaviour and criminal activity?

I’m glad that you to raise the concept of agency. But, for political, economic, and moral agency to flourish requires Palestinian institutions and governance structures that are based on the rule of law, economic and individual freedoms. Only Palestinians can create them.

Deeply worrying. Huawei has been accused of “reputation laundering” after it has emerged that it funded a Cambridge University college study on global governance reforms in communications and technology.

tells how the 1960/70s Soviet anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic rhetoric has taken hold on our university campuses. Sadly, I don't think most of the “leftist radicals” know anything about the modern history and politics of the Soviet Union.
Unbeknown to the dimwits who recite it today, leftist word salad re 'imperialist Nazi Zionist colonizers' is lifted wholesale, with virtually no innovations, from a deeply sinister Soviet propaganda campaign shot through with the basest antisemitism,

Hardly surprising. We live in the era of “performative outrage” where association with any cause that is on the side of the perceived “oppressed” against perceived “oppressors” enhances one’s social standing within one’s peer group. Basic Critical Theory thinking.

Most politicians who are economically literate know that NHS has to be reformed into a European style insurance-based system. But the question is, is there political will? Or wait until the system breaks down completely with billions of wasted taxpayers’ money in the meantime?

Re. points you list. The dance and the chant in London last Saturday was "Judaism yes, Zionism no, the State of Isreal has to go." The first part of the chant clearly was there to stay on the right side of the law - just.

This is how it goes. Paraphrasing here: first the came for the Jews and nobody spoke out, and when they finally came for me, there was nobody left to speak out for me. The West is sleepwalking into a dystopian future.
@simonmontefiore
We live in a world where facts no longer matter. They have been sacrificed on the altar of critical theory, where anything, factual or not, can be used to overthrow social structures through which people are perceived to be dominated and oppressed.

To qualify as PhD thesis you need to add to existing knowledge. Analysis of extant literature should identify a knowledge gap that then becomes your research question. You then use the appropriate methodology to design your research undertaking to add the knowledge base.

I don't have the data, but my gut feel is that grade inflation is less pronounced in STEM subjects than in ‘softer’ social sciences and humanities.
Agree or disagree, but this shows how a civil debate is, and should be conducted. But to engage this way requires knowledge and intelligence that, unfortunately, is mostly absent in general public discourse, especially on X.
Defending free speech can be hard.

The tactic has changed. Diane Abbott posted today that we have to expose “the lies” that central London isn’t safe for the Jews on pro-Pal march days. She posted photos of marginal Jewish groups at the march. This is used to whitewash any claim of the existence of antisemitism.

The biggest fear that political elites have is that plebeians should be able to think for themselves. Hence, any policy that restricts individual agency is invoked.

As is the case with most folks who have drunk the "critical social justice ideology" kool-aid, it's all about performativity. It is a competition that increases their social standing to identify anything, however ridiculous, that may be perceived as "injustice."

They sound like 'cut and paste' jobs from the Elders of Zion and the 1960s Soviet propaganda. The worst Soviet antisemitic tropes are alive and well among the latte-sipping classes who never experienced the horrors of Soviet repression.
@DocumentIsrael
This is wonderful to see. I wonder what future impact this will have on community relations as young Haredim are signing up for service?

I don't think these latte-sipping revolutionaries fully understand Lenin's rule of terror and social fascism. Marxist theorists, incl. Kautsky, Luxemburg, and Kropokin denounced Lenin as a "renegade."

I watched the film ‘Denial’ about Holocaust denier David Irving’s libel suit against Lipstadt last night. Her successful defence was not based on proving that Holocaust happened but putting the onus on Irving that it didn’t. It should be the same case here.
