Just off shift, good to see
@guyll
and
@Prof_Schilling
taking over from me & Andrew Arch. as nursing assistants
@RoyalLondonHosp
ITU after a bittersweet day: some pts better, some less well, some passed on.
We're all becoming quite good at drug rounds& infusions...
#notjustecgs
Just finished an all nighter
@RoyalLondonHosp
ITU. Boy oh boy those ITU nurses work soo haed. Great to see
@DrPierlambiase
and
@drlynnemillar
also having a similar education. But the best bit: even some of the sickest COVID patients can (and do!) get better
Happy New Year.
@RoyalLondonHosp
ITU is pretty busy, what an amazing team. A privilege to be able to help out with the incredible nurses, docs and ahps there and see a misty new year sunrise... Respect to all the
@BartsHospital
team stepping up to help out.
Now off to bed!
Just want to say. I am so proud to be working at
@NightingaleLDN
. It's a blessing that we haven't had to use capacity, lockdown has had its effect: we can upskill and be ready either for second wave or provide capacity to allow urgent treatment to get back on track across LDN.
Very proud to be back
@NightingaleLDN
today (now recovered💪)! What an incredible hospital and institution.
Absolutely top clinical care delivered & an incredible achievement plus wonderful to see my mentors and colleagues again
@Prof_Schilling
@BenOBrien_Barts
@alan_mcglennan
Our totally awesome Sherry Honarbakhsh has just got her
@TheBHF
intermediate fellowship and will be joining us as our new academic consultant. One of the brightest and best
@BartsHospital
Congratulations also to
@Prof_Schilling
, Prof.Hunter
@LambiasePier
amazing mentors. Horray!!
Fantastic to perform first

even despite COVID challenges. Big kudos to our amazing nurses, physiologists, radiographers managers and schedulers that made it possible.

ILRs - Who (actually) needs them?
Our paper from
@BartsHospital
in
@ESC_Journals
tries to answer. Preprint here:
We reviewed first 500pts (ok, 501) who had outpatient ILR, and (uniquely) stratified by age and indication. Results surprised us... (1/4)
First emergency overnight
#micra
@BartsHospital
02:50am. What a great team & slick definitive solution for our (very sick) patient in less time than a TPW.
Thanks
@MedtronicUK
for superb technology and helping us build the service.

The great news is the
@RoyalLondonHosp
ICU is significantly calmer now: still busy, but mainly caring for those already here, not swamped by admissions.
Well done London for getting vaccinated & putting up with lockdown.
Put up a little longer.
Life will be back soon.
Excited to be first using Heliostar's new mFAM automated full AI-delivered geometry
@BartsHospital
. Great cases over the last few days, learning lots, super fast and consistent isolation and without General Anaesthetic. Nice work

@OUHospitals
for amazing help.
@BlenheimPalace
tri is beautiful but I should have looked at the road more, scenery less.
I’m ok: 4# ribs clavicle pneumothorax pride and new helmet needed.
Ok it’s lunchtime. Have seen
@Drdevignair
do a complex LV lead redo (w blocked SVC), and 3x AF ablations, including 2x research cases… this place is 🔥🔥🔥
Masterclass doesn’t touch it.
Merry Christmas from the Barts On Call Electrophysiology Team : 24/7/365 pacing and ablation never stops.

@NHSBartsHealth
ok we haven't actually opened the lab today but we are here if you need us. ;-)
Really is life-affirming stuff
@NightingaleLDN
. Any hospital IS its staff, so this is the most dedicated and determined hospital ever. So proud to be a little cog in the machine, building a safety culture from the word go.
Ok, enough.
Let's save some lives.
Delighted to have performed the world's 500,000th Cryo AF ablation today! Nice one
@MedtronicUK
for bringing great technology to our patients
@BartsHospital
and
@NHSBartsHealth
and yes we are sure it was exactly the 500,000th. no, we are sure it was us.
First 5g virus chat with elderly neighbour:
Neighbour -You think it's a virus? Or 5g?
Me -I think it's a virus.
N-But how does it spread so fast?
Me -Like a virus you mean?
N -Well they say 5g is really fast.
Me -Im pretty certain it's a virus.
N -You a doctor or something?
Just fantastic to be back

Cool little Heliostar to finish off a tough week on call. LA dwell time 35 mins and 3.40 ablation time. I just stood there in gloves whilst Charlie our excellent reg did it all. Next week more Christmassy colours please.
So Exciting🌟🤩🤩🌟 to receive the first human-spec iKOs™ microcatheters, ready for

everyone's experiences over the last year have been quite different from one other's .. only now we'll begin to notice how the world changed for one another.
be nice and please it's all been different and hard in different ways but I reckon it'll be ok.

Amazing work by Vijaya and also big thanks to all the coauthors in London and Zurich.
Thx 2
@BiosenseWebster
for their support and partnering.
Check out the authorship: Physics, maths, academic engineers... humbly suggest medics & epidemiologists more authoritative on this one.
This bunch of deskjockey scientists should be ashamed and stick to Twitter where noone takes you too seriously.
Not often I've tweeted an article from the mail...

No cake for you then.
(On a serious note, classic case of confusing correlation with causation... Also trite misunderstanding of complex web of the biology of obesity and psychology perhaps?)
In this world of recycle and reuse, devices that require button batteries should be non-user serviceable only. Useful battery shape for long, low power draw but increasingly used for cheap flashing lights. Sounds like updated ISO/CE mark regulation required.
Button batteries can kill. I’ve twice just managed to stop my own toddler swallowing the ones out of the digital scale. Thanks for the reminder Eric. Pls share and take care.
So sad to hear of Estrella Catalan's death. Her testimony embodied the committment, unending duty and loyalty that we see across our incredible Philippino colleagues that I am fortunate to work with and on whom many of our hospitals depend. Rest in peace.
