Why is the Marin County Sheriff arresting Black individuals at over EIGHT times their demographic presence in the County?

@leahfrombklyn Scary to see this and think of all the people freezing on the street from New York to California because they don't have even shelter. Or dying of infectious diseases because they don't have access to bathrooms and hot and cold running water. This penthouse is obscene.

@freedomrideblog my neighborhood in queens was muslim, greek orthodox and catholic. not unusual for cab drivers to cross themselves, or if muslim pray in arabic while waiting for light to change. not a reason to pepperspray ppl at all, & esp not directly in the eyes. the assailant is brainwashed.

@moorehn @sustainbytrain As a woman who gave up dating because of experiences with dating tech years ago, and who was just lucky to meet a good partner in real life (we're still friends), I can definitely confirm that dating "technology" dramatically increased the power imbalance between men and women.

@Moniorti @stan_okl "Homelessness, gang violence, and public drug use were like this during the Reagan years.". Homelessness was nothing like this during "the Reagan years" because it was Reagan's attack on public housing that initiated the current homelessness level. Decades of privatization.

@HowTheWestWS @stan_okl Because in three years we spent $13 billion on homelessness in California, and we didn't build a single net new public bathroom (or net new public shower.). All that mess is the result of our increasingly privatized world.

Barbara Lee is truly the underappreciated hero of our era, and has been for a decades. I hope Katie Porter and her suburban white fans will someday admit how much damage Porter did by entering the Senate race against Lee.
I am the only US Senate candidate in California who supports a permanent, unconditional ceasefire. I’m proud to always stand on principle—even if I have to do so alone.

@minjinlee11 When Eddy Wu was stabbed four times in the back carrying groceries out of Lucky Supermarket in Novato, CA, lots of people said the white attacker wasn't racist. EVEN THOUGH the attacker wrote in his diary that he planned to kill a chinese person that day. Yes, it was racist.

@missfloratang @AOHSUsometimesY I met this Korean American girl in New York, who grew up in Texas. And every time the white Texas kids bullied her, she'd call their houses and lecture their parents -. She didn't want to trouble her own parents about her being bullied, because her parents "had such hard lives.".

@missfloratang @AOHSUsometimesY She was like 10 years old and she would get on the phone with her grown-up voice and ask to speak to Mrs. Wilson, and then tell her, "Mrs. Wilson, Do you KNOW what your child did to me in school today?". Texans didn't know what they were messing with - a brave little Korean girl.

@BrianMannADK @darakerr 👀 Benioff gave at least 30 million to @mkushel for UCSF homeless research in San Francisco, and she's now promoting pro-carceral Proposition 1 which will target minorities and poor. Meanwhile in Hawaii, where he's buying, the largest homeless demographic is native Hawaiians.

@becauseberkeley At $800 a month, it's only $500 more than several homeless shelters in Marin County are charging the unhoused people to stay there per month. They shelters don't call it rent, they call it a "fee" or "contribution", because a shelter charging rent, which is what it is, is illegal.

@TopicalZealot @HowTheWestWS @stan_okl The wild thing is that after depriving unhoused people of these basic facilities that are necessary for daily living, we turn around and blame unhoused people for being dirty. It's a real "blame the victim" approach. We need to confront it at all of our local government meetings.

@rcmoya84 Maybe a mistake to assume that every "black and brown" person in this neighborhood is ok with this. That doesn't mean anyone should be "locked up". But worth asking what we're getting wrong!. When kids' athletic fields are so segregated/restricted, this is one predictable result.
