@npedev @river_is_nice Growing up, mom would say that dad was just at the movies waiting for the show to start...

@Austen I mean there never was a specific anonymous and the thing people usually think of as anonymous stopped being that a long long time ago now. That's just some guy posting. He's not anonymous

@kilovh @dasibassara Glad to hear it! My incorrect assumption has been that these street tefillin guys aren't probing beyond the basic question. Happy to be wrong here!

@dasibassara @kilovh Sorry to bump in but I feel like this can happen a lot - "are you Jewish?" *thinks of his g-grandpa* "uh yeah, on my mother's side". Bam, shliach heard the magic words

@mbateman I was not aware that some kids start reading so late... 😬 My 1 year old naturally goes for books. The exposure to words at his age is invaluable. I was reading before I had memory and I'm working on the same with him so he forms ideas as his memory develops

@wylfcen What words were there to refer to Africans and did they have specific words to refer to darker shades?

@smalltown_wife My kid has figured out how to say "daddy!" in a hundred different tones of voice to get his message across. It's like Eskimos and snow...

@Duderichy Oh yeah hugely. The two adjustments I mentally make when in Europe after the US is the faces being far more uniform and the bodies being far less visual

@shinboson The comments on that are painful. Confident stupid people with no concept of what he studies and how it could be usefully applied. They just focus on the program details and are mad when that's not the point here

@roddreher Yes I met a European girl and jumped to her country as it became clear that Brexit was unraveling. We have a son and I haven't even bothered making him British yet. It just feels pointless.
