The response to the incident at Dow Chemical Bayport is ongoing. As a result, Fairmont Pkwy remains closed in both directions from Driftwood to 16th Street, and Bay Area Blvd remains closed from Spencer Hwy to an area just north of Choate Rd. (1/2)

As a result of Tropical Storm Hanna, a Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for Harris County. Areas near the coast in La Porte will see elevated tides about 2 feet above normal. In additon to elevated tides we may also see an increase in wind speeds. (1/3)

The Winter Storm Warning issued for the City of La Porte is now in effect until Monday at 6 PM. A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...sleet...and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous.

#HAZMAT | The La Porte Fire Department has responded to a HazMat Incident at the intersection of Barbours Cut and SH-146. An 18-wheeler carrying Lithium Ion Batteries has overturned and started leaking. The leaking product is believed to be battery acid.

Hurricane Laura is expected to produce tropical storm winds to the La Porte area that could lead to loss of power. If you plan to use a generator, make sure to use it safely. Place away from your home or garage to ensure you are not affected by the exhaust fumes. #ReadyLp
