So, as usual, I pissed away the first 4 days of my week off work (I did have man flu for 2 days, in fairness), but now I’m all set up and ready to finally start recording some new material. Hoping for 3 solid days with my head down and for the jazzmaster to inspire some magic🤞🏼😎
I’m not even exaggerating. All I’ve listened to all week, on loop, night & day, is Loveless. My favourite album of all time. Every time I pick it up again, I can’t put it back down for days. Floors me every time, even after 32 years 🤯 It’s my heaven 🤗

Goosebumps 🤤 If there was ever an album, so nostalgic, that it instantly sends me back to the 6th form common room, circa 1991, this is it! 🤗 Good times. Beautiful times 🥲
You know when you’re standing next to someone at a gig and you just think, why the fuck are you here? Young poser couple scoffing and taking the piss out of punters dancing and enjoying themselves. Didn’t clap once all gig. 🤷🏻♂️
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream 🙌🏼 An all time favourite album (probably even top 5) and easily no.2 in my
#5albumsSF2
. Has to be played loud 🔊🔊 Jimmy Chamberlin on fire 🔥 I struggle to get past Mayonaise without having to play it over and over again on loop. What a tune! 🤤
“Overrated albums” 🙄 A free hit to slag off music that you don’t like, for some. Not on my feed, thanks. Let’s have something more positive - which album has hit all the right notes with you this weekend?
Ride EP. You never forget the first time you heard it and it blew your mind! Drive Blind was the first song I ever heard by Ride and it was a life changer 😍 The catalyst to stop playing a tennis racket guitar in front of the mirror and actually learn how to play and start a band
I’ve just used the term “shoegaze” at work and not a single colleague has any idea what I’m on about 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I had to repeat the word 3 times for them and all I can see are blank faces and slowly shaking heads. Philistines 🙄
So, a few years ago, I had a proper nervous breakdown. Fucked me right up and been on antidepressants every since. The last 2 months, things have been touch & go again, including some dark days just 2 weeks ago but, and the point of my tweet, as well as attention seeking😝 1/4
My 11 year old daughter painted this (oil on canvas 80x40cm) last night, and I’m absolutely blown away by it and so proud 🤯😍 It is a recurring scene from her dreams, that she always says she can control, which I always tell her is a super power of her epilepsy⚡️🦸🏻♀️ ☺️
4 favourite album openers, 4 different decades:
1970s - Life’s Greatest Fool
1980s - Just Like Honey
1990s - Only Shallow
2000s - He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot
I’ve fallen deep for Morning Phase by Beck, this week. Recommended to me a few years ago by
@1RecordEveryday
after saying how much I loved Sea Change. I’ve never really given it the time it deserves until now. Probably one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard 🤯😅

2. Ride - Nowhere [1990]
I still remember the excitement when this was released off the back of those EPs 🙌🏼 It was the catalyst for learning bass and guitar, and starting my first shoegaze band at school with my best mate. We thought we were Bell & Gardener 😅
I may have purchased a new 🎸 😬 Have wanted a Fender Jazzmaster since my teens so I’m delighted to finally own one, 30 years later 😍 Late 90’s MIJ model. Absolutely lovely neck profile. A joy to play. Need to get some 11’s on it and electrics need a minor fix but well pleased😎

10.The House of Love - S/T (Butterfly) [1990]
It’s always been there. For 34 years of my life. A constant companion and never far from my ears. Perfectly crafted songs, wonderful production, inspiring guitar hooks, and Chadwick’s killer vocals🙌🏼
Finished my

so I’m sure it’ll make my 5. Simply brilliant album. Swept me away back then, and has continued to do so for 30+ years 🥰 Not much more to add really 🤷🏻♂️😅🙌🏼
Wrapping up my Sunday ironing session with my favourite EP (or even record) of all time 🙌🏼😍 A thing of absolute beauty. Cranked up to 11 🔊 ‘ave it! ✊🏼😁
I did it! The whole 🌈 of

vinyl! It had me questioning my own sanity at times but once I was 3 colours in, there was no way out! Thanks to Nat

Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. Not only a brilliant album title, but also loaded with cracking songs. Captivating lyrics, infectious hooks, and good ol’ crunchy, rock n roll guitars. A very strong chance of making my

“Masterpiece” is a term I use very rarely in music but
#5albums21C5
has 2 albums that I would consider as so, and Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump is one of them. Not many LPs that I own more than 2 variants of on vinyl either, which is telling of how much this album means to me😍

6. The Stone Roses - S/T [1989]
I still remember the first time I heard this. It was on a warped cassette that a school friend brought round to play to me. It even sounded amazing then! 😅 Rushed out and bought the record, the very next day 🍋 🙌🏼

1. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless [1991]
Would have been a one-two with Isn’t Anything if I hadn’t limited it to 1 per artist. Love both albums but this one is iconic 🙌🏼 🐐 🥇

3. Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain [1994]
So good, they named it twice! Tough call between this and S&E. Both amazing. Instant nostalgia hit, every time 🤗 Hook after hook, infectious melodies, and that vibrant, raw energy captured perfectly on tape 😎
Always a joy to meet up with my main man
@Kev_moose
, especially as he spotted this one for me when we met up for a crate dig at the Carlisle Record Fair yesterday 🙌🏼 Original 1987 pressing, sounds amazing 🤩 I’d only just mentioned last week that I’d love love to get a copy too🤯
Only picked this up on vinyl a few weeks ago, perfectly timed for

. It’s like a different animal on vinyl. Such punchy dynamics. Sounds amazing! 🙌🏼 😎😎
Battling for my 5th and final spot, and would be criminal to leave it out but there’s some serious competition 😬😰
Haven’t tweeted about my couch to 5k progress in a while as it’s probably a bit boring 😅 but absolutely buzzin’ tonight. Went out in the wind and rain, and ran non-stop for 4.22km. No run/walk intervals. Fairly amazed, to be honest 😀 Can’t believe at the difference in fitness.
Overheard a music muggles’ office argument. “How can you not like Maroon 5?! Surely everyone likes them!” My side eye glance was spotted, to which I received “Why don’t you just go and listen to your Catfish & the Bottlemen” 🤷🏻♂️ That’s the kind of music I listen to in his world 😂

8. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream [1993]
The perfect alt rock LP 🙌🏼 Thunderous grooves to delicate lows. Jimmy Chamberlin providing some of my all time favourite drumming. Butch Vig nailing the production. So many “ooof!” moments. Mayonaise!🤯
Have had Bdrmm on the headphones, non-stop, since last week’s gig. This album has even gone up to a whole new level since seeing them live. Thanks as always to
@gshawisme
for donating this marbled pressing to complete the collection! 😬🙌🏼 Any excuse to share the 2nd photo 😅

Day 16: Album by a band you saw before they were big.
Saw Oasis supporting Verve in Dec ‘93 at Newcastle Riverside, which is probably the largest leap of success I’ve witnessed, but I’m going with Verve supporting Ride in March 1992. They were mesmerising 🙌🏼😎
Stoked to nab a copy of the US reissue of Grandaddy - Sophtware Slump. Not sure if it’s been remastered again but sounds lovely & crisp. Must A/B it with my 2011 copy. Maybe it’s just because it hasn’t been played to death yet! A term I use sparingly, but this is a masterpiece!🤯
Going through an old hard drive to look for some Charlatans live radio performances that I converted from cassette years ago, and found this photo of when the Daily Mirror gave my old band, 4 out of 5 stars (well, I hope it was out of 5! 😬😅) for our debut album ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
The postwoman was surprised to see me waiting at the door for her this morning. She’d obviously forgotten it’s bdrmm’s new album release day! 🎉🥳 I reminded her. She looked puzzled and smiled politely 😐 Just completed my first play though and had to give it a standing ovation🤩
I have four joint no.1 albums for

. Nothing between them really but I think this is just slightly edging top spot, due to being the one I’ve played and enjoyed the most over the last fortnight. Always an ever present in any favourite albums of all time list that I make
…is that, even though many scoff at social media, without you fine folk on here to have a laugh with and chat about music, I’m very sure that I wouldn’t have narrowly avoided another “incident” so please don’t ever underestimate the kindness and positivity that you all share 2/4
The Cure - Disintegration soundtracking our Sunday afternoon of taking down the Christmas Tree and decorations (we always have to leave them up for an extra day or 2 for my son’s birthday). Letting my wife choose the records for the afternoon so I don’t get any of those looks! 😅
Just watched the Stone Roses: Made of Stone documentary for the first time. What a band 🤩 The rehearsal room footage is particularly special. I didn’t think I could love Reni any more than I already did but he is just the coolest 😍 and what a drummer 🤯

4. The Beatles - Revolver [1966]
Could’ve almost filled my top 10 with Beatles LPs but this is my favourite 🙌🏼 I know it’s a cliche but we really did grow up listening to The Beatles in our house, to which I owe it all to my dad and a blue BASF compilation tape
Twitter X?!😳 Let’s give the old bird, that has served music Twitter so well, a proper send off 😢 What are your 3 favourite albums, discovered on here?

12. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Howl [2005]
“Time won’t save our souls” 🤤🙌🏼 What a way to start the album with those a cappella harmonies ringing out. Quite a departure from the first 2 albums. Not a weak track on it and stunning production 🤩
My Ride reissues didn’t arrive in today’s post so I had to make do with listening to this lot instead 🤗 What a band! 🤯😍 A lovely, long overdue, chilled afternoon finally after a couple of stressful and hectic weeks 🫠
I’ve been so excited about the second coming of Drop Nineteens 🤩 Loving the new track. Sounds like they’ve never been away. Can’t wait for the new album 🙌🏼 Had to get the collection out for a spin, last week to celebrate 🎉 🎸 🔊
…on here, as you may never know how something so seemingly little, means to others. I spend so much time on here with a daft grin on my face, and have more in common (especially with music) than I do with real life friends. So I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all in 3/4
After a shite week of 1st world problem hell, what a joy to finally get my ears immersed in this on vinyl 🤗 Too soon to call it AOTY & a masterpiece?🤔 Another top recommendation by
@Richie_Rouse
and huge gratitude to
@del246
for finding, possibly, the last blue copy anywhere!✊🏼
My 10 year old daughter has fallen asleep, sat on my lap and snuggled into my shoulder for the first time since she was little. Absolute heaven 🤗 Best cuddle ever. My arm and shoulder are in agony but it’s worth every second. Plus it’s kept her quiet while the football’s on! 😅
Off to see Bon Iver in Glasgow tomorrow night. Stupid anxiety is playing havoc for no valid reason, but giving this a spin tonight is helping to build up the excitement. One of my top 5 albums of the last 10 years. I think my head might explode if I get to hear 8 (circle) live 🤯
It’s fair to say, this has just played its way into the top 2 of my
#5albums97
, not that there was ever any doubt about it making the 5 though. Still as mesmeric as the first time I heard it. Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. We sure are! 🤗🤯🙌🏼
A very close second favourite JAMC album after Honey’s Dead. To be honest, this one really sky rocketing in my estimations, just in the last year, when I got this copy on vinyl after an eagle eyed
@Kev_moose
spotted it at a record fair 🙌🏼 Sounds stunning on wax 🤯
This one just gets better and better from those wonderful bdrmm boys 🙌🏼😍 What a revelation they’ve been, these last few years. Leading the way and carrying the shoegaze torch 🔥🙌🏼 We’re in good hands, people 😅 AOTY contender, for sure 🤩

11. Slowdive - Souvlaki [1993]
In my head, I thought this would have been a bit higher in my list until I started actually putting a shortlist together. Nostalgia hits of so many great memories, every time the opening chords of Alison ring out 🤗
10 things other people like that I don’t
1. Toffee
2. Cricket
3. Stadium Gigs
4. Paul Weller
5. Whiskey
6. Manchester United
7. Rollercoasters
8. Marquee Moon
9. Breaking Bad
10. A Soft Mattress
Drop Nineteens - Winona 🙌🏼 Always has been, and always will be, one of my all time favourite songs. Right up there in the dizzy heights of absolute favourite favourites 😍😅 Perfection
I’ve barely had a chance to spin any vinyl lately, so I’m not moving from here for the rest of the evening now. A handful of new records to listen to but had to start up with a bit of Bill 😍🙌🏼
Here we go then. Not going to be easy but here is my first, very strong, contender for
#7albums90s
. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream. Been a regular listen for almost 30 years now. Can’t see how this won’t make my final 7! Famous last words 😬
🥹 Top of my vinyl wish list for years. No US only release was going to stop me! Sounding more amazing than ever. The intricacies & depth that I’ve never heard before. Never easy to resist singing along but I was compelled to listen like never before🤯 My favourite lyricist too🙌🏼

Day 28
Ride - Drive Blind [Ride EP, 1990]
One of my all time favourite songs from one of the bands and EPs that changed my life 🤯🙌🏼 Not sure if this Snub TV performance was the first time I’d heard them but certainly always stays with me 🎸 😍
It’s fair to say that the record collection has outgrown the storage space over the last few years 😬🤦🏻♂️ It’s been driving my wife mad so have finally made space for an IKEA Kallax unit. Can’t wait to get it all in alphabetical order. Tools and Moretti at the ready. Wish me luck😰
I was just thinking to myself that although Between 10th and 11th is my favourite Charlatans album, I don’t really listen to them much these days so it might not make my

9. Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump [2000]
Absolute masterpiece 🙌🏼 From start to finish, as Jason Lytle takes you on his “turn of the millennium” journey. And then to follow it up with Sumday, which could have as easily made my list too🤯 Genius🙌🏼
Just had time to spin these 4 outstanding EPs from My Bloody Valentine before the football started. My favourite band and You Made Me Realise is my favourite ever EP. Out of this world! 🤯😍
It’s fair to say I was obsessed with this album when it was released in 2017 but I hadn’t listened to it in years until today. Totally forgot how great it is! 🤩🙌🏼 Could cause a 5th place headache that I wasn’t expecting in
