Someone stole my purse once, including my phone. I called my phone and they answered. We actually had a pleasant chat where I congratulated them on being the new owners of a Coach purse, $200 cash and my phone. Asked that they simply mail my driver’s license back. They did. Lol

I’ve gotten flack from people about my trip. My trip didn’t cost nearly as much as some people think. Here’s the deal: I don’t have kids, I don’t have a big mortgage, car payments, debt, gadgets, etc. I work hard. I save. It amazes me how people can’t be happy for others.

I’m just sharing what the SWVirginiaWildlife Center told me last week when I took a pileated woodpecker in. They are ecologists and veterinarians so I defer to their expertise. The Audubon society suggests the same as birds go into shock quickly and die.

The final 15 miles are today. I’m excited but also a wee bit emotional about it ending. I’m windburned, exhausted, and ready to sleep in a little. I’d also kill to soak in a tub. But I’ll miss the peace that comes with walking solo across such beautiful, empty spaces.
