What chance has a defender here? Seven steps, hop, ten steps, shot. 3 does everything right in terms of footwork, speed, near hand - this should have been a turnover win for him.

For years, the GAA was run to suit the people who dip in and out. They come on board for the summer, but then go back to soccer and rugby for the other eight months. For once, a change has been made to suit the people who make up the association, who keep it alive.

Sunday Game music at Easter. All Ireland hurling final in mid-July, same afternoon Lowry or Rory going at it in final round of 150th Open at St Andrews. No championship in August or September. Giving up the greatest months. I adore GAA summers. And think this is madness.

None of this anything close to "cheeky". It's interfering with a medical official, who's trying to aid an injured player - both by number 9 and number 13.

This debate is bananas. For everyone suggesting Gillane was trying to pull on the ball, it was on the deck when he started his swing, and he swung about 18 inches high. Does anyone think that a player of Gillane's quality would attempt to hit a ball and miss by a foot and a half?

A footnote which will get lost in the madness - we're a good while waiting for the presentation here, and the Dubs are patiently staying out there in the crowd, through their own disappointment, because it's the right thing to do. That's very admirable. 👏👏

I'm presuming we're going to end up with a Glen-Kilmacud replay next weekend, but regardless of the decision, I will say this. Whether or not the extra man/men was involved in the play should be completely irrelevant to the call. You don't have to touch the ball to be involved.

A pub is closing in Dublin. I'm sorry for the employees and there's no doubt that the city is losing character, but it's not like anyone will be stuck for a pint. If a rural Post office closing is like a village losing a leg, then Dublin just lost a toenail.

Genuine question - am I the only one who doesn't enjoy hurling as much now that there are 60-70 shots on goal per game, and consequently a huge amount of restarts/stoppages? I feel like a huge amount of the continuity is gone out of the sport at the very elite level.

Appalling language from Dónal Óg, the mask slips in a big way. It's not about the promotion of hurling at all, it's about Munster supremacy and getting digs in at "disappointed also rans". I wonder if he'd describe @CloyneGaa the same way, seeing as they don't play senior either.

This weekend,, 11 SFC games were played. Seven were competitive, of the four sides that lost, two of them will play Div One in 2020. One of the others (Sligo) lost to a team from the same division as them. The problem is not the need for tiers, the problem is Dublin. Only Dublin.

A lot of unhappiness at this. I can see both sides, but a lot of it is certain eejits ruining it for everybody. Clubs posting on social media about their 10-36 to 0-2 win in an U-14 game, dubious behaviour when it comes to second teams, and assorted similar muppetry.

A once-in-a-generation opportunity to ensure that Louth GAA jerseys are worn by a huge number of kids in the county, and they charge €70 a pop for the privilege, alienating all those "casual supporter" families they should be trying to reel in. This is incredibly short-sighted.

Did you ever have one of those work days when you just walk into the office with a spring in your step?

All set for my intercounty commentary debut here with @GAAGO ! The game is on the main pitch, so unfortunately I won't be able to use the immortal line "We've got great weather here, under the Dome!“

I was never properly trained in this reporting lark, took it on out of interest. First ever interview was with Eugene. I hadn't clue what I was doing, so he largely guided me through it as we went. Nothing unusual for him, just another small instance of the man's good nature.

One of his great days. Offaly manager Eugene McGee makes his way onto the pitch before the start of the All- All-Ireland Senior Football Final, @Kerry_Official v @Offaly_GAA , Croke Park, Dublin.

That was just a wonderful thirty seconds on twitter. Goal for the @Offaly_GAA hurlers, kicking on after a great spell in a crucial game against Kerry. Refresh - goal for Colm Doyle to put the footballers six up in Wicklow. Hook. It. To. My. Veins.

@Donal_OKeeffe As a coeliac, I can unhappily confirm gluten crops up in places you'd never expect, so you have to ask. Dairy is presumably the same. It's not like she was ordering a steak, there's more than just beef in a stew. There *shouldn't* be dairy in there, but one never knows.

Scary to think that this is a pretty accurate view of where the @officialgaa is going, that no member (I know of) wants it and yet there is a collective powerlessness in the face of it.

I've often felt that "talk to someone" is a way of society offloading blame. It implies that ongoing dark feelings only exist due to internalised turmoil and bad life choices. This clip covers everything that's usually offered in response. Outstanding from @TadhgHickey

We don't need government telling us to 'talk to someone' or go for a walk - of course these things help but we need proper investment in mental health services if we want to go beyond the platitudes and actually save lives 💚

@frances_black @daithi_regan Like pretty much anybody with an ounce of human feeling I'm appalled at what the Israeli armed forces are doing, but how is this a GAA issue exactly? The gardaí acted on complaints, he resisted, he was arrested. Unless the GAA have extensive new powers I never heard about?

No excuses for @RoscommonGAA hurlers this afternoon here in @clontibretclg against @monaghangaa , immaculate playing surface despite the recent weather. Incredible set up here in the club, very few in country could match it. A testament to all involved.

So happy. Happy for the lads that have achieved this, happy for the lads that kept the flame alive over the last two decades to ensure we never fell too far. Happy because they've beaten a great team to win it, and done it in style. #offalygaa

Can't get my head around the reality that Mick McCormack is gone. The craic, the banter, the devilment, that laugh. A gifted photographer. Arriving in the Hyde on the harshest of days in just a short-sleeved shirt. Coming from Ballagh, he loved the Rossies. Rest easy Mick #RIP

Every defended, just by their presence in a certain area, is changing the landscape for the attacking team, and forcing them to consider that player. Every extra attacked is someone that the defending team has to cover, and consider. Just being there, is influencing the game.

I've spent far more time in hospitals in the last few years than anyone should have to, and I'm always impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and kindness of nurses. This taxpayer would be delighted to see them supported and paid properly. #StandWithNursesAndMidwives

That draw has presented the GAA with a real chance to show that lessons have been learned from the Croke Park debacle at the weekend. It should now be Arm vs Gal in Cavan/Carrick, Derry vs Clare in the Hyde, and then a Cork v Dub and Mayo v Kerry double in either Thurles or Limk.
