Got this lovely free gift from Guinness in the post. Received a letter acknowledging my efforts with club and county. I realised when I saw the parcel that this package was actually meant for a Tyrone footballer of the same name.

To put it in context, 17 counties have been in the semi finals/provincial champions in that time frame so it’s very unlikely that would occur this year or ever again in the associations history.

Gavin facilitated and improved the greatest team of all time. Then was also able to pass through changes which are almost certain to greatly improve the spectacle. I’m confident he will be remembered for hundreds of years as a real important influential figure in Irish sport

Excellent article here. Fantastic to see a truly world class training facility in Owenbeg used for multiple sports and everyone is gaining from it. Great credit to @Doiregaa and @derrycityfc who have huge overlapping support in the community.

‘There’s nobody giving out, the world hasn’t ended’ – went to the Derry GAA Centre of Excellence on Monday, a state of art complex now doubling as Derry City’s training base. A progressive move in more ways than one

Excellent result for Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar winning the Leinster Senior Gaelic Football schools title. Hopefully a Hogan Cup follows. Great achievement and fantastic to see Westmeath teams thriving.

@JohnCregan74 What’s the problem with Corrigan Park? Have you ever been? I’ve been loads of times and have never had an issue at all.

@JohnCregan74 The Ulster final is hosted in Clones or a nominated venue. Antrim were drawn out first. The team drawn out first gets to play a home match. In my opinion, Corrigan Park is a ground of adequate standard to be a nominated home ground regardless of the opposition.

@Rma13Fiona Why is it not fit for purpose for this match but fit for other matches every bit as big? Cork hurling have huge following. Is it just capacity or other reasons? Cause it’s very welcoming and accessible. I don’t think it should be moved just to sell more tickets.

@molawns12 Gets children and locals in Belfast going to it. If the game was not in Belfast they wouldn’t be able to go as may not have transport. Others could go but GAA would already be very strong in alternative ground.

@Rma13Fiona Many in Antrim would disagree. Has hosted Cork, Galway, Wexford and Kilkenny hurlers in big championship games in recent years. Was never an unsuccessful occasion or any crowd trouble or safety issues. I was there last Sunday and thought it was superb.

Cork hurlers played a knock-out match there in 2022 when they were All Ireland runners up the year before. Similar situation with Kilkenny in 2023. Wexford and Galway played their in last years championship. Would be very daft decision to move the match.

The team who finish bottom of the Leinster hurling championship get relegated. The team who finish bottom of the Munster championship are exempt from relegation. Surely both sides should play-off to see who goes down? Why should geographical location only prevent relegation?

Carlow have one of the smallest populations and a small amount of hurling clubs. Fact they won a Joe McDonagh Cup in 2023, drew with Kilkenny in 2024 championship and now beaten Waterford in a vital league match deserves huge credit. Extremely impressive from a tiny county.
