Her character has always been about family, her losing her family and trying to protect it. The fact that she finally is able to build a family is very much in character for her.
Mikasa's ending is misogynistic in itself, the girl who always broke stereotypes and never showed an ounce of interest in kids is suddenly forced to have a life that she never expressed wanting just to show that s is "hpy" because obviously a woman cannot be happy in other ways.
